Abstract:
The present invention is directed to oil-soluble lubricating oil additives comprising Mannich Base condensates of an alkyl substituted hydroxy aromatic compound with formaldehyde and an amine, wherein the alkyl-moiety of the aromatic compounds is derived from at least one ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer of 300 to 20,000 number average molecular weight, wherein at least about 30% of the polymer's chains contain terminal ethenylidene unsaturation. The Mannich Base condensates of this invention are useful as dispersants.
Abstract:
A fuel oil composition containing a minor proportion by weight of a mixture of 20 to 40 wt % of a polyphenol, a sulphurized polyphenol or a hindered phenol and 80 to 60 wt % of a cyclic amide derived from a dicarboxylic acid or anhydride having a hydrogen-and-carbon containing substituent of at least 40 carbon atoms and a polyalkylene polyamine having at least 2 nitrogen atoms and at least 3 carbon atoms (other than carbon atoms in the branched substituents) between the terminal amino groups.A suitable additive is a 70% by weight of the macrocyclic derivative of polyisobutenyl succinic anhydride (MW 1300) and penta propylene hexamine and 30% by weight of 4,4.sup.1 methylene bis (2,6 di tert butyl phenol).
Abstract:
A fuel composition for internal combustion engines, and more particularly, a fuel composition for internal combustion engines containing less than about 0.5 gram of lead per gallon of fuel is described. The fuel provides acceptable valve seat protection in engines designed to operate on leaded fuels. A further aspect of the invention is to reduce deposit formation within the cylinders.
Abstract:
Coking in and around the injector nozzles of indirect injection compression ignition engines is reduced by means of distillate fuel with which has been blended suitable concentration of:(a) organic nitrate ignition accelerator, and(b) the condensation product of a phenol, preferably a high molecular weight alkylphenol, and aldehyde and an amine having a H-N
Abstract:
Alkylated 5,6,7,8-tetrahydronapthalenols are effective antioxidants for fuel oils. Di- and tri-alkylated tetrahydronaphthalenols are especially effective, with the di- and tri-isopropylated materials being preferred, at a concentration as low as about 5 ppm.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a microemulsion of water or water and another additive, especially alcohol or amine, in a liquid fuel, in the presence of a surface active agent. Such microemulsions are intended to be used as fuel in an engine or a burner.
Abstract:
ORGANIC COMPOSITIONS ARE PROVIDED CONTAINING SECONDARY C6 TO C9 TRIALKYL PHENOLS, OR THEIR MIXTURES, AS ANTIOXIDANTS FOR PREVENTING OXIDATIVE DETERIORATION OF METAL SURFACES.
