Abstract: Applicant discloses a novel method of spray applying multiple courses of a rapid cure, two part polymer sealant to an aircraft surface. The method sometimes uses a two part polymer mix for use in the aircraft industry that is applied with pneumatic mix and spray gun. The two part cartridge is used in the mix and spray gun so the mix is applied immediately upon mixing, but the two components are kept separated unless the gun is applying the mix. The multiple courses cure to form a clear sealant that allows for inspection of cracks and corrosion beneath the sealant. It cures quickly so that the coated part may be further processed, for example in the assembly line during aircraft build. Applicant further discloses multiple spray gun systems for applying such a two-part polymer mix to aircraft parts.

Abstract: Applicant discloses multiple embodiments of a non-adhesive cured two-part polymer sealant for use on aircraft parts. In some embodiments, the sealant comprises only a carrier and a cured polymer gel. In some embodiments, the carrier of the sealant is at least partially open cell foam, which at least partially absorbs a cured polymer gel, and which sealant has beneficial properties, including low smoke density, non-toxicity when burned, and flame retardant properties. In some embodiments, the sealant comprises a skin on an outer surface thereof, which skin may be impermeable or semi-permeable to the passage of liquids and or polymer gels. In some embodiments, the sealant is breathable but moisture-proof.

Abstract: A sealant is provided for use on an aircraft or other vehicle. The sealant may be used with a gasket. The sealant is a perimeter seal that comprises a polyurea member. Abstract: Applicant provides a number of embodiments of a sealant, the sealant comprising a polyurethane gel which, in some embodiments, has a thickness of 12 mil or less (uncompressed). Uses of the sealant are shown, including uses between aircraft parts under compression. Sometimes the sealant may have a very thin skeleton. Abstract: A number of sealants are provided that are resistant to degradation by aircraft fluids. In some embodiments, the sealants are resistant to degradation by Jet A fluid and at least one of the three types of hydraulic fluids typically used in aircraft. These embodiments are also typically cure in place from a two-part polyurethane or polyurea mix, with cure to a visibly clear coating. In some embodiments, they may be sprayed on an aircraft surface or applied by hand (brush or injectable). In other of these embodiments, the sealants comprise, at least in part, a cured, soft, tacky polyurethane gel that is resistant to at least one of a synthetic hydrocarbon based or mineral oil based hydraulic fluid. In one embodiment, the sealant is used on a blade type aircraft antenna.
