Abstract: Applicant discloses a novel method of spray applying multiple courses of a rapid cure, two part polymer sealant to an aircraft surface. The method sometimes uses a two part polymer mix for use in the aircraft industry that is applied with pneumatic mix and spray gun. The two part cartridge is used in the mix and spray gun so the mix is applied immediately upon mixing, but the two components are kept separated unless the gun is applying the mix. The multiple courses cure to form a clear sealant that allows for inspection of cracks and corrosion beneath the sealant. It cures quickly so that the coated part may be further processed, for example in the assembly line during aircraft build. Applicant further discloses multiple spray gun systems for applying such a two-part polymer mix to aircraft parts.

Abstract: A closeable sealant wrap for placement about a workpiece includes a skin with a surface having a body dimensioned similar to the skin but narrower in width. Various closure means are deployed at one or more perimeter portions of the skin. The closure means may for example be a zipper which allows the sealant wrap to be enclosed around a wire, a fiber or a bundle of wires or fibers. The skin may be porous or non-porous. The body is a non-hardening, tacky polymer.

Abstract: Gaskets, including aircraft gaskets, are disclosed, the gaskets having an elastomeric gel body and substantially incompressible skeletons. The bodies may be pliable and deformable and, in one example, may be comprised of a two-part chemically cured polyurethane that sets up as a gel after mixing with the web so that it is fully integral with the web and so that there is substantially no air bubbles or air pockets left in the web. The web may be a regular shaped web and made of nylon.

Abstract: A single piece gasket is disclosed having a skeletal member, typically metallic, and a pliable body. The pliable body includes a first portion having a first firmness and a second perimeter portion have a firmer consistency. When such a composite body is placed under compression, the perimeter will tend to limit the flow of the softer inner material past the firmer perimeter region or portion of the gasket. In this manner, creep or overrun of the less firm portion material will be reduced.

Abstract: Applicant discloses a two part polymer mix for use in the aircraft industry that is applied with pneumatic mix and spray gun. A two part cartridge is used in the mix and spray gun so the mix is applied immediately upon mixing, but the two components are kept separated unless the gun is applying the mix. A polyurethane elastomeric gel gasket having a metallic skeleton is configured to lay between the access door and a lip of the metal wing surface. Under compression, the polyurethane will deform and squeeze out the edges and flatten so as to provide metal-to-metal contact between the access door and the lip.

Abstract: A number of tacky polyurethane or other gel comprising composites are provided. The composites have foam carriers, which may be open cell, semi-open cell, reticulated or closed-cell foam. The tacky gel which, in one embodiment, may be polyurethane, typically comprising a thin surface coating on the foam gel and the foam is partially or fully saturated with the same gel comprising the thin surface layer of the foam. The skeletons may be included in the composite to provide additional structure integrity, and a moisture proof layer may be added to the top and/or bottom surfaces of the foam/gel.
