    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new serine protease protein which contains a specific amino acid sequence, consists of a serine protease protein arising from prostata and is useful for diagnosis, treatment or the like for diseases of prostata and genital system, e.g. prostatic hypertrophy, prostatic cancer, breast cancer, spermatheca disease and the like. SOLUTION: This protein is a new serine protease protein arising from prostata, which is composed of the isolated protein containing the amino acid sequence represented by the formula or the protein obtained by substituting, inserting or deleting at least one amino acid residues from the isolated protein and contains the sequence having at least one of main biological specific characteristics of the protein represented by the formula, and is useful in the diagnosis or the treatment for disease of prostata or genital system and in the diagnosis or the treatment for spermatheca disease, breast cancer, prostatic cancer and prostatic hypertrophy or its metastasis. This protein is prepared by introducing an expression system obtained by integrating a nucleotide sequence that codes for serine protease identified by a cDNA library from human prostata into host cells to transform and then cultivating this.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an isolated protein having an activity as a G protein-coupled receptor and useful for the treatment of diseases, etc., in the central nervous system or the peripheral nervous system such as Alzheimer disease by providing a specific amino acid sequence. SOLUTION: This receptor is a human protein having an amino acid sequence represented by the formula or a sequence in which one or more amino acid residues are substituted, inserted or deleted therefrom and retaining one or more main biological characteristics of the protein represented by the formula at that time. A cell having the protein on the cell surface is preferably combined with many substances to be investigated and the biological activity of the receptor is then compared in the presence (absence) of the substances to be tested to identify an antagonist and an agonist of the protein. A biological sample together with an antibody specifically to the protein is kept at a constant temperature to detect an antibody/antigen complex. The amount of the antibody/ antigen complex is preferably compared with the standard to qualitatively and quantitatively detect the protein in the biological sample.
