Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable center lines of respective members to be aligned correctly by allowing a first reference point to have a V-shaped edge and arranging the first reference point at a position adjacent to a dimple for making an assembly perform a gimbal type movement, arranging a second reference point adjacently to the spacer mounted to the pivotal center of an arm member and arranging a third reference point adjacently to the front end of the arm member. SOLUTION: A head supporting arm 15 is positioned with respect to a rotary data recording disk 21 and is inclined from a line vertical to a center line 25 by an angle θ in order to make the distance between the center of an opening 19 and the center of the disk 21 minimum. Slots of an arm member and the opening 19 are used in order to align respective center lines of the arm member, a suspension load arm beam and an integration type wiring plate. Long thin slots 30 and 33 are used as reference points aligning center lines of the head supporting arm 15 and the dimple 50 of the suspension load beam and the center line of a head/slider assembly 20.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify wiring processings and to enhance workability by making extension plates bendable in a direction vertical to the flat surfaces of arms and arranging plural arms bedable around two axes of the flate planes of the arms, plural first connection pads to be provided on respective extension plates and plural second connection pads to be provided on the flat surface of a circuit board. SOLUTION: A voice coil motor 12 is attached to an arm assembly 10 and head/slider assemblies 13 are moved in the radial direction by the voice coil motor 12 by connecting respective rear ends of arms 11 to an axis 14 while pivotally attaching them to the frame of a disk driving device. Moving amounts of second connection pads being on a circuit board 23 with respect to extension plates 19 are small and positions of the pads are correctly formed and at the time the extension plates 19 are rotatingly moved around three axes orthogonal with each other, the pads are not fluctuated and the extension plates 19 can be bent in the direction vertical to flat surfaces of the arms 11 and the arms 11 can be moved around two axes of the flat surfaces.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a head slider assembly fixed to a flexure at a head suspension assembly from pitching and moving unfavorably when a shock is applied to a hard disk drive apparatus. SOLUTION: An apparatus is provided with a head suspension assembly in which tabs 28A are formed in the front part, with a means which is coupled to the rear part of the head suspension assembly in such a way that the front part is moved between the innermost-side position and the outermost-side position in the radial direction of a disk 21, with a lump element 24 which comprises a support face coupled to the tabs 28A when the front part is situated in the outermost-side position and with flexures 29 which are placed on the front part and which are provided with front parts near the front part of the head suspension assembly and with rear parts near the rear part of the head suspension assembly. Then, when the tabs 28A are coupled to the support face of the lump element 24, an extension part 27 which faces surfaces 37 in the front parts of the flexures 29 by keeping a prescribed interval is installed at the lump element 24.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a device by forming reference point members for positioning a first head gimbals assembly on a first surface and positioning a second head gimbals assembly on a second surface respectively on the first surface and second surface. SOLUTION: The upper head gimbals assembly(HGA) 49A includes an arm member 51A, a suspension load beam 53A and an integral type wiring plate 54A. A center line CL1 is extended along the longitudinal direction of a head stack assembly and an opening 55 aligned with its center is formed at a carriage 48. The first reference pins 57A and 58A and the opening 55 are formed on the carriage 48 in such a manner that the opening 55 through which a pivot cartridge 42 passes is arranged between the first reference pin 57A and the second reference pin 58A. The line 60 passing the first and second first reference pins 57A and 58A is inclined by an angle α1 from the center line CL1 of the head stack assembly.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably fix bearing cartridge and a hub without reducing the pitch of bearing balls by providing a hollow section at the center of the shaft of the bearing cartridge and simultaneously providing a cylindrical protrusion to be inserted into the hollow section on the hub. SOLUTION: A hollow section 24 is provided at the center of a shaft 22 of a bearing cartridge. Then, a cylindrical protrusion section 54, which is provided on a hub 52, is inserted into the section 24 and the shaft 22 and the hub 52 are fixed. The section 54 of the hub 52 and the section 24 of the shaft 22 are fixed by shrinkage fit or adhesive so as to avoid the occurrence of mutual deviation. Thus, a hub fitting protrusion matched with a conventional shaft is eliminated, and the fixing construction is miniaturized and stabilized without reducing the pitch between the balls of the bearing cartridge.

Abstract: The present invention prevents a head/slider assembly fixed on a flexure of a head suspension assembly from having an undesired pitching motion when an unexpected excess shock is applied to a hard disk device when the head suspension is at the best position of the unload ramp. A disk drive device in accordance with the present invention comprises: a rotating data recording disk; a head suspension assembly containing a front portion and a rear portion, with the front portion being provided with a tab; a device coupled to the rear portion of the head suspension assembly to move the front portion between an inner most position and an outer most position along a radial direction of the rotating data recording disk; a ramp element containing a support surface for engaging with the tab of the front portion of the head suspension assembly when the front portion is moved to the outer most position; and a flexure mounted on said front portion of the head suspension assembly, and having a front portion disposed towards the tab of the head suspension assembly and a rear portion disposed towards the rear portion of the head suspension assembly.

Abstract: A head stack assembly for a data recording disk drive has a carriage on which a coil is mounted. The carriage has a first surface and a second surface. A first head gimbal assembly is mounted on the first surface, and a second head gimbal assembly is mounted on the second surface. A datum member is formed on each of the surfaces of the carriage. The datum member is used to position each of the head gimbal assemblies on their respective surfaces. The datum member has two pins that engage apertures in the head gimbal assemblies. A pivot member is located in a separate aperture between the pins such that the head stack assembly is balanced at the center of the pivot member.
