    Abstract: A head support assembly for a disk drive is comprised of a head suspension assembly connected to an actuator arm at one end and supporting a head at the other end, wherein a projection is formed on a flexure closely fixed on a thin-plate load beam, said projection projecting toward a disk surface and having a smooth surface. The projection is formed at a region somewhat close to the head supporting end from the hinge portion of the load beam. When shock is applied to the disk drive, bending occurs around the hinge portion of the load beam. During such bending, the projection having a smooth round surface is caused to contact the disk, whereby the disk surface is prevented from being damaged.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a head supporting arm that allows for laser tacking while having a merging lip and limiters for loading/unloading respectively. A head supporting arm according to the present invention includes a load beam, and a flexure connecting the load beam to a slider. The load beam having a dimple for generating a gimbal motion between the flexure and the slider. The slider having a head connected to its one end. The head supporting arm of the present invention further including an exposure opening formed in the load beam. The exposure opening allowing for the exposing of the bonding portion of the flexure that is bonded to the other end of the slider. The exposure opening further providing an opening to extend the limiters formed unitarily with the flexure 36 onto a surface of the load beam that is opposite to the surface on which the flexure 36 is provided. The extended limiters are hooked to the load beam at the opposite surface.

    Abstract: A head support assembly for a disk drive is a head suspension assembly connected to an actuator arm at one end and supporting a head at the other end, wherein a projection (47) is formed on a flexure (14) closely fixed on a thin-plate load beam (12), the projection projecting toward a disk surface and having a smooth surface. The projection is formed at a region somewhat close to the head supporting end from the hinge portion of the load beam. When shock is applied to the disk drive, bending occurs around the hinge portion (45) of the load beam. During such bending, the projection having a smooth round surface is caused to contact the disk, whereby the disk surface is prevented from being damaged.

    Abstract: The head support arm includes: - a load arm (35); - a flexion device (36) composed of a connection zone connected to the load arm and with a link zone (36A); - a cursor (37) fitted with a head at one of its ends a fixed to the link zone by an adhesive.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head support arm having a merge lip and a limiter for loading/unloading which can perform a laser tack. SOLUTION: The head support arm includes a load beam 34, a flexure 36 for coupling the load beam 34 and a slider 37, and the slider 37 with a head 43 set at the one end. The load beam 34 targets the head support arm 31 of a structure having a dimple 42 for generating a gimbals operation of the flexure 36 and slider 37. In the head support arm 31, (1) an exposure opening for exposing a bonding part 36A of the flexure 36 bonded to the other end opposite to the one end of the slider 37 with the head 43 is formed to the load beam 34 and, (2) a limiter integrally set with the flexure 36 is extended to a face opposite to a face of the exposure opening 61 where the flexure 36 is present, whereby the limiter is engaged with the load beam 34.

SOLUTION: An apparatus is provided with a head suspension assembly in which tabs 28A are formed in the front part, with a means which is coupled to the rear part of the head suspension assembly in such a way that the front part is moved between the innermost-side position and the outermost-side position in the radial direction of a disk 21, with a lump element 24 which comprises a support face coupled to the tabs 28A when the front part is situated in the outermost-side position and with flexures 29 which are placed on the front part and which are provided with front parts near the front part of the head suspension assembly and with rear parts near the rear part of the head suspension assembly. Then, when the tabs 28A are coupled to the support face of the lump element 24, an extension part 27 which faces surfaces 37 in the front parts of the flexures 29 by keeping a prescribed interval is installed at the lump element 24.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent short-circuiting caused by the oozing-out of flexure adhesive, to absorb distortion caused by the contraction of a soldered part by reducing the rigidity of a flexure, and to improve the quality of the soldered part by arranging pads adjacently to each other as much as possible when the bonding pad formed in a slider held in the flexure and the leading pad for a lead fixed to the platform of the flexure are soldered to each other. SOLUTION: Holes 21 and 22 are bored in a flexure 8 portion near the soldered parts of the bonding pads 28 to 31 of a slider 25 and the leading pads 41 to 44 of a lead end part. Thus, since adhesive for adhering the slider 25 to a flexure tongue 20 is moved downward from the holes 21 and 22, the adhesive is prevented from being brought into contact with the bonding pads 28 to 31.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the controlling of a head arm by reducing shavings of ramps in a head holding mechanism to reduce changes of friction factors of the ramps and to make the speed of the head arm at the time of loading and unloading of a head constant. SOLUTION: In ramps 62 of a ramp block 6, the dried lubrication coating film consisting essentially of polytetrafluorethylene is formed on a surface areas 62g including a contact part 62f with a suspension assembly constituting a head arm. Moreover, the film is also formed on a contact part with the ramps 62 in the tab of the suspension assembly. However, the contact part of the tab slides on the contact part 62f of the ramps at the time of loading and unloading of the head, since the resin coating film is formed on the contact part between the ramps 62 and the tab, the shavings of ramps 62 are reduced.
