    Abstract: There is provided a method of controlling communication for a communication system for connecting a plurality of electronic apparatuses through a communication control bus and allowing data communication between those electronic apparatuses wherein each of the electronic apparatuses performs connection control through the execution of a connection control command carried out by writing connection control information in a predetermined storage means of its own or another electronic apparatus. The electronic apparatuses which attempt to write the connection control information transmit the write instructions in a predetermined storage means. The storage means which has received the write instructions executes only the earliest write instruction and transmits responses indicating whether the execution of respective write instructions is successful or not.

    Abstract: An editing method in a system of connecting a plurality of equipments by a communication control bus in which isochronous communication and asynchronous communication can be present together and conducting communication between each of the equipments, in which an edition controlling equipment controls a plurality of equipments to be controlled thereby editing isochronous communication data to a recording equipment as one of said equipments to be controlled, said method comprising the following steps of: asking to the equipment to be controlled a first delay time from the instance a predetermined command is received by the equipment to be controlled to the instance the processing corresponding to the command is executed by asynchronous communication, asking to the equipment to be controlled a second delay time of a time code obtained by asynchronous communication from a time code in isochronous communication data by asynchronous communication, asking the time code by the isochronous communication to the equipment to be controlled, and obtaining a boundary position information in the unit section of the isochronous communication from the isochronous communication data, or asking to the equipment to be controlled a third time information from the top position of the unit section of the isochronous communication by the asynchronous communication, and sending a predetermined command at a predetermined timing by the asynchronous communication, based on the first and the second delay times, and the boundary position information or the third time information. There is therefore provided a method of editing isochronous communication data and an edition controlling equipment, wherein edition at a high accuracy can be conducted without reading the system data of isochronous communication in a system in which isochronous communication and asynchronous communication can be present together; edition can be conducted at a high accuracy also in a system in which the edition controlling equipment cannot recognize the boundary in the information signals; and even if there are various delay times from reception till execution of an instruction in the equipment to be controlled, edition can be conducted at a high accuracy.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for recording and reproducing digital image data. In a reproducing apparatus, two tracks of digital image data are simultaneously reproduced in a high definition mode of operation, while in a standard definition mode of operation only a single track of data is reproduced at a given time. In the high definition mode of operation, the data reproduced from the two tracks simultaneously are time-division multiplexed and supplied in multiplexed form to a digital interface for transmission to another apparatus, such as a recording apparatus for dubbing. In a recording apparatus, operating in a high definition mode digital image data is recorded simultaneously in two tracks on tape. In one embodiment, the data to be recorded is also multiplexed time-divisionally and supplied to a digital interface for transmission, but in a standard definition mode, the data is not multiplexed prior to transmission. In other embodiments, a recording apparatus is supplied with communication circuits for demultiplexing high definition image data received from a transmission line for simultaneously recording first and second portions of the image data in respective tracks on a tape.

    Abstract: A digital recording/reproducing apparatus having an external input digital interface is disclosed. A changeover switch is controlled by a changeover control circuit for selecting horizontal synchronizing signals generated by a horizontal synchronizing generator for an external input mode and for selecting horizontal synchronizing signals derived from reproduced video signals reproduced from a recording medium for a playback mode. Even when the digital video signals supplied from outside for the external mode include non-standard horizontal synchronizing signals, standard composite video signals may be generated by an encoder by employing the color sub-carrier signals from the color sub-carrier signal generator.
