Abstract: PURPOSE: A system for sensing and releasing freezing of a radiator flap and a method thereof are provided to prevent an engine from being superheated that is caused by not discharging internal heat of an engine room to the outside when being frozen in a state where a flap closes. CONSTITUTION: A system for sensing and releasing freezing of a radiator flap comprises a freezing sensing unit and freezing releasing unit. The freezing sensing unit determines whether a flap is frozen or not. The freezing releasing unit comprises a potentiometer sensor, a contact sensor, and a strain gauge. One of the potentiometer sensor, the contact sensor, and the strain gauge is installed in the flap to determine whether or not to freeze. The freezing releasing unit comprises a heater pipe, a control valve, a water nozzle, a hot wire, and an anti-freezing solution spraying device. The freezing releasing unit removes the freezing of the flap when the freezing sensing unit detects the freezing. If the freezing is detected, the freezing is eliminated by one of the heater pipe, the control valve, the water nozzle, the hot wire, and the anti-freezing solution spraying device.
