    Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for for providing location information in a communications network. A method is performed by a first device. The first device supports positioning of other devices in the communications network. The method comprises acquiring positioning reference signal configuration from a radio network node in the communications network. The method comprises acquiring location information from a local positioning entity. The method comprises providing the location information to at least one of a radio network node and a second device in the communications network. The method comprises transmitting a positioning reference signal according to the positioning reference signal configuration.

    Abstract: One aspect of the teachings herein involves the temporary transfer of radio identities from one service area of a wireless communication network to another service area, where the individual radio identities are used to differentiate individual radio connections between the network and respective wireless nodes supported by the network. In particular, the temporary transfer of a given radio identity from its default service area for use in another service is limited temporally and/or geographically. Limiting the temporal and/or geographic scope of the radio identity transfer allows the network to substantially maintain default associations of radio identities and their respective service areas, which allows the network to prevent or reduce the use of conflicting radio identities in the same service area. Transfer signaling may be used transfer radio identities, and such signaling may include the temporal and/or geographic restrictions, to control the migration or spread of borrowed identities in the network.

    Abstract: A cellular network supports radio communication based on a first configuration which organizes a time-frequency space in first resource elements and radio communication based on a second configuration which organizes the time-frequency space in second resource elements and assigns at least one of the second resource elements to a utilization which is in conflict with the radio communication based on the first configuration. A node (100-A) of the cellular network sends an indication (20) to a communication device (10-A, 10-B). The indication (20) comprises time domain and/or frequency domain information for defining a pattern comprising at least one of the first resource elements which is to be disregarded by the communication device (10-A, 10-B) when performing radio communication with the cellular network based on the first configuration and/or the second configuration. The at least one first resource element of the pattern defines a first part of the time-frequency space which overlaps a second part of the time-frequency space defined by the at least one of the second resource elements.

    Abstract: Method by a communication device (120) for managing beam coverage. The device receives and evaluates (201-2) first reference signals transmitted by a network node. The first reference signals are comprised in first beams. The first beams are static or semi-static. The receiving and evaluating is according to a first state, wherein the device refrains from reporting back about the first reference signals. In response to the conclusion that all of the first reference signals are too weak and/or of too low quality by comparison to a threshold, the device sends (202-2) a request to one or more network nodes (110, 111), requesting a certain procedure for providing, by beamforming, one or more second beams (127, 128) specifically to target the device. The second beams (127, 128) comprise one or more second reference signals. The device switches, to a second state. wherein the device actively participates in the provision of beam coverage and is in a battery-saving mode.
