Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement of obtaining efficient power control during soft handover in a communication network system when a user equipment (18) is in communication with two or more radio base stations (15a, 15b) over a radio interface on downlink (17) and uplink (16) channels. Transmit power control (TPC) commands are received from said two or more radio base stations (15a, 15b) on said downlink channels (17). Said received transmit power control commands are analyzed and a power offset on said uplink channels (16) is adjusted based on said analyzed transmit power control commands.
Abstract:
A method in a communication device (120) for reducing power consumption in the communication device (120) is provided. The communication device (120) and a base station (110) are comprised in a cellular communications network (100). The communication device obtains information about an antenna beam (117) of the base station (110). The antenna beam (117) will be perceived by the communication device (120) in time periods. The information relates to when in time a time period starts and the duration of the time period. When being out of the time period, the communication device refrains from attempting to receive or transmit data using the antenna beam (117). During the refraining no power is consumed for attempting to receive or transmit data using the antenna beam (117).
Abstract:
The invention discloses a mobile station (200), a base station (300), a method and a computer program for communication in a wireless communication network (100), where cell edge user experiencing difficulties on the contention-based channel are treated differently than those users who are not power limited and/or do not experience collisions. Suggested solutions to this problem may be different treatment of the cell edge users in contrast to users located closer to the base station (300) either by communication over an orthogonal scheduled channel, or by forcing mobile stations (200) who have successfully sent their data to wait a specific time period or by dividing the mobile stations (200) into different groups based on the signal attenuation experienced by the different mobile stations (200).
Abstract:
Embodiments herein disclose a method in a radio base station (12) for allocating a radio resource to be used for communication in a radio communications network, which radio base station (12) serves a first cell (13) of a first radio access technology and a second cell (15) of a second radio access technology. The first cell (13) and second cell (15) are comprised in the radio communications network, and which radio base station (12) controls a radio resource that supports communication over a frequency band The method comprises determining (1010) a load in at least one of the first cell (13) and second cell (15), and allocating (1020) the radio resource supporting communication over the frequency band to the first radio access technology of the first cell (13) or the second radio access technology of the second cell (15) based on the determined load.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for reducing power consumption of a receiver in a mobile communication network comprising a sender transmitting packet data on a downlink channel to one or more receivers over a radio interface. Inactive time instants and listening time instants are defined according to provided rules. The receiver is arranged to listen for information from the sender during the listening time instants and to sleep during the inactive time instants. Thus, less power will be consumed during the inactive time instants.
Abstract:
To increase throughput efficiency and attain a higher achieved bit rate for data transmissions over a high speed shared channel, a variable transmit power increase factor is used to control the maximum rate at which the power at which data is transmitted over the high speed shared channel can increase. In one non-limiting implementation, the power increase factor F is varied with the current total downlink transmitted power available for high speed downlink transmission. For example, when the available high speed shared channel power is large, the variable transmit power increase factor assumes a more conservative value, e.g., a smaller F value, at the beginning of the high speed downlink transmission, and then a more liberal value, e.g., a larger F value, later during the high speed downlink transmission.
Abstract:
Downlink congestion is accurately detected and congestion control is more effectively provided without decreasing the system downlink capacity. The characteristics of the downlink transmission of the base station are monitored and used to selectively adjust a fast congestion control (FCC) alarm threshold value in each base station. A FCC relief action is initiated upon detecting the downlink power exceeding the FCC alarm threshold value, i.e., potential downlink congestion. The FCC relief action includes temporarily blocking data services in the system or rapidly decreasing the downlink transmit power of the packet data user's Dedicated Physical Channels in the base stations.
Abstract:
A method in a base station for selecting a set of transport format schemes for a cell is provided. The set of transport format schemes shall be used for a radio transmission from a communication device to the base station. The base station is serving the eel! comprising the communication device. The communication device is unsynchronized for transmission to the base station. The base station specifies (201) a plurality of sets of transport format schemes. Each set of transport format schemes is associated to a respective guard time, which guard time is a time margin required to compensate for the communication device being unsynchronized for transmission to the base station. After determining (203) a required guard time as the maximum timing advance value used in the cell the base station selects (204) one set of transport format schemes from the plurality of sets of transport format schemes to be available for the cell. The set is selected such that its associated guard time matches the determined required guard time in the cell.
