Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, a user equipment, a radio network node, and a computer program product for a random access procedure are provided. One of the methods comprises receiving, from a radio network node, a random access response message including a request for channel quality information. The method also comprises transmitting to the radio network node a scheduled transmission message including the requested channel quality information which is used by the radio network node to perform link adaptation for transmission of a contention resolution message. With the methods, apparatuses, user equipment, radio network node, and computer program product, the physical resources unreasonably occupied due to an improper modulation and coding scheme can be saved and may be used by other user equipments during the random access procedure, resulting in more stable cell throughput.
Abstract:
A radio network node (110) and a method therein for managing transmission of at least one channel quality report and a user equipment (120) a method therein for handling transmission of at least one channel quality report are disclosed. The radio network node (110) sends, to the user equipment (120), a first message comprising information about at least one resource for use by the user equipment (120) when transmitting the at least one channel quality report. The radio network node (110) sends, to the user equipment (120), a second message for activating, in the user equipment (120), the transmission of the at least one channel quality report. The radio network node (110) receives, from the user equipment (120), a first channel quality report of the at least one channel quality report. The first channel quality report is received on the at least one resource on an uplink control channel.
Abstract:
In network-based uplink scheduling, users are scheduled by the network for uplink communication between a user side and a network side. In this context, the invention provides an efficient estimation of User Equipment (UE) buffer status on the network side such as at Node B (20), for each of a number of users (10), and determines an uplink scheduling priority order of the users based on the network-estimated buffer status information. The users (10) are allocated communication resources based on the determined uplink scheduling priority order. In this way, the UE buffer status may be considered in the uplink scheduling procedure without explicit UE buffer status reports (that would waste valuable uplink transmission resources) from the UE side. This means that efficient scheduling and optimal exploitation of the uplink transmission resources are ensured, with clearly improved system performance as a result.
Abstract:
The invention is directed towards a method of estimating the load on a cell in a wireless network as well as to a cell load estimating device. According to the invention a 5 determination (46) is made of a value (R) indicative of the degree of use, by a mobile station provided in a set of mobile stations connected to a cell, of a communication link provided for this mobile station during a communication session. Based on this value an adjusted link quality value (L-ADJUST) is provided (54) for the mobile station, which is then used when determining the cell load.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a method in a mobile terminal for communication with a base station in a wireless network during a random access procedure. The method comprises exchanging (202) between the mobile station and the base station, during the random access procedure, information on a selected DRX scheme to be used for communication between the mobile terminal and the base station in the random access procedure, setting (204) the mobile terminal in DRX mode according to the selected DRX scheme and receiving (206) at least one message from the base station during the random access procedure, wherein the at least one message was transmitted according to the selected DRX scheme. The disclosure also relates to a corresponding method in a base station, and to a mobile terminal and a base station. By such methods, base station and mobile terminals, battery power in a mobile terminal may be saved during a random access procedure.
