Abstract:
A radio network node (12) communicates with user equipments, UEs, (10) over a radio interface and estimates one or more quality factors, associated with each of a first and second network, that depend on a load or an expected UE behavior or an uplink channel quality for one or both of first and second networks. The node (12) determines one or more network selection parameters based on the estimated one or more quality factors, and communicates the one or more network selection parameters to at least one UE (10) for enabling the UE to select one of the first and second networks for subsequent access by the at least one UE. The UE receives from the radio network node one or more network selection parameters. The UE uses the one or more network selection parameters to select one of first and second radio networks and then accesses the selected radio network.
Abstract:
The present invention relates a radio network node (204, 304) and methods therein for coordinating paging commands. A method comprises receiving paging command information related to a UE from a paging controller node, where the paging command information comprises a list of radio network nodes. Within method a radio network node then obtains information about available physical radio resources (S-218, S-326, 406, 506) of a second radio network node (206, 306), for paging, and determines physical radio resources (S-220, S-328, 408, 508) to be used for transmitting a paging command for the UE, and transmits information related to a paging command (S-222, S-330, 410, 510 for the UE, to said second radio network node (206, 306).
Abstract:
According to one aspect there is provided a method in a first network node of a telecommunication network. The network has a plurality of base stations which are operable to transmit a broadcast channel repetition pattern comprising at least one time window of a first mode of operation. The first mode of operation is interspersed between periods of a second mode of operation. The number of repetitions of a broadcast channel in a given period is greater in the first mode than in the second mode. The method comprises determining first data regarding a broadcast channel repetition pattern to be or being transmitted by a first base station. The first data comprises at least timing information about the timing of the time windows of the first mode of operation. The method also comprises sending the first data to a second network node that controls operation of a second base station neighbouring the first base station.
Abstract:
The invention relates to handover of a mobile station (12) from a source cell (C1) to a target cell (C2) in a wireless communication network (10, 11). According to the invention communication improving data in relation to communication between the source cell and the mobile station (12) is collected by a communication improving node (14) prior to handover and communication improving physical layer data being at least based on said collected communication improving data is transferred to a device (41) handling communication between the target cell and the mobile station. The communication handling device then uses the communication improving physical layer data to improve the quality of the initial communication between the mobile station and the target cell after handover to the target cell.
Abstract:
Techniques and apparatus for supporting paging of user terminals by a base station that supports first and second paging modes, the second paging mode providing extended coverage relative to the first paging mode and using more resources than the first paging mode. An example method includes first determining(810)that the second paging mode is needed for a user terminal, and then initiating (820) paging of the user terminal according to the second paging mode, in response to said determining. In some embodiments, the node is a mobility management node, and initiating paging of the user terminal comprises sending, to the base station, a message ordering the base station to page the user terminal according to the second paging mode. In other embodiments, the node is the base station, and initiating paging comprises transmitting one or more paging messages using a message format corresponding to the second paging mode.
Abstract:
A method in a communication device (120) for reducing power consumption in the communication device (120) is provided. The communication device (120) and a base station (110) are comprised in a cellular communications network (100). The communication device obtains information about an antenna beam (117) of the base station (110). The antenna beam (117) will be perceived by the communication device (120) in time periods. The information relates to when in time a time period starts and the duration of the time period. When being out of the time period, the communication device refrains from attempting to receive or transmit data using the antenna beam (117). During the refraining no power is consumed for attempting to receive or transmit data using the antenna beam (117).
Abstract:
Embodiments herein relate to a method in a radio base station (12) for providing radio coverage to a user equipment (10). The radio base station (12) comprises at least two radio antenna ports; a first antenna port (AP11) associated with a first physical antenna and a second antenna port (AP12) associated with a second physical antenna. The first antenna port (AP11) is arranged to provide a radio coverage over a first area (14) and the second antenna port (AP12) is arranged to provide a radio coverage over a second area (17). The radio base station (12) broadcasts a signal with system information over the first area (14) enabling the radio base station (12) to connect to the user equipment (10). The radio base station (12) also determines that a user equipment (10) in the first area (14) is to receive or transmit data. The radio base station (12) then obtains information related to a position of the user equipment (10) in the first area (14). The radio base station (12) then sets a characteristic of the second physical antenna based on the obtained information. Thereby to the radio base station provides radio coverage to the user equipment (10) via the second port (AP12).
