Abstract: Hydroformylation of 2-4C olefins by reaction with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst (I) comprises two reaction steps (R1) and (R2) whereby an olefin containing feed, carbon monoxide, hydrogen and a liquid stream from (R1) is fed into (R2) and partially reacted. Hydroformylation of 2-4C olefins by reaction with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a hydroformylation catalyst (I) comprises two reaction steps (R1) and (R2) whereby an olefin containing feed, carbon monoxide, hydrogen and a liquid stream from (R1) is fed into (R2) and partially reacted. A liquid feed is removed from (R2) and is separated into a catalyst containing fraction (F1), a product containing fraction (F2) and a non-reacted olefin fraction (F3); at least a portion of (F3) and optionally at least a fraction of (F1) as well as carbon monoxide and/or hydrogen are fed into R1 and reacted in the presence of a catalyst; and a liquid stream is removed from (R1) and fed to (R2).

Abstract: The invention relates to phosphabenzene compounds of general formula (I), wherein the radicals R to R , independently of each other, are hydrogen, COOM, SO3M, NR3X, NR2, OR, COOR or SR (with M = hydrogen, NH4 or alkali metal, X = anion, R = hydrogen or C1-6-alkyl), or C1-12-alkyl, C6-12-aryl, C7-12-aralkyl, C7-12-alkaryl or C3-6-heteroaromatics. The alkyl, aryl, alkaryl and aralkyl radicals can be substituted with the aforementioned radicals and two or more of the radicals can be linked to form aliphatic or annellated rings, at least one of the radicals R and R and at least one of the radicals R and R being different from hydrogen. The inventive compounds can be used for producing hydroformylation catalysts.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the hydroformylation of olefins with at least 7 carbon atoms. According to said method a) the olefin is subjected to a hydroformylation reaction together with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a complex consisting of rhodium and a polymeric complex ligand with more than 10 nitrogen atoms and having a molar mass greater than 1000 g/ mol, as well as a solubilizing agent, at a temperature of between 40 and 200 DEG C and a pressure of between 1 and 600 bar in a reaction zone, such that in these reaction conditions the solubilizing agent together with the olefin and the resulting hydroformylation product forms a largely uniform phase in which the complex is solubilized; b) in said reaction mixture a phase separation into a phase rich in solubilizing agent and a phase poor in solubilizing agent is induced, the complex preferably being present in the phase rich in solubilizing agent and the hydroformylation product preferably present in the phase poor in solubilizing agent; and c) the above phases are separated. Phase separation is preferably induced by cooling or by addition of a phase-separating agent such as water.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of aldehydes or aldehydes and alcohols by hydroformylation of olefins containing more than 3 carbon atoms, comprising a hydroformylation stage, in which the olefin is hydroformylated under a pressure of form 50 to 1000 bar and at a temperature of from 50° to 180° C. by means of a rhodium catalyst dissolved in a homogenous reaction medium and a catalyst recovery stage comprising extraction of the rhodium catalyst with an aqueous solution of chelating agent, isolation of alcohols and/or aldehyde from the extracted hydroformylation product steam, precarbonylation of the aqueous rhodium-containing extract in the presence of carbon monoxide, synthesis gas as, or a gas mixture containing carbon monoxide under a pressure of from 50 to 1000 bar and at a temperature of from 50° to 180° C., separation of the effluent of the precarbonylation stage into an organic phase containing the major portion of the rhodium and an aqueous phase containing the chelating agent and recycling of the organic phase to the hydroformylation stage, where the rhodium catalyst is extracted from the effluent of the hydroformylation stage using an aqueous solution of a sulfonic acid group-free, water-soluble polymer capable of chelating rhodium.
