Abstract: Novel phosphonite compounds are claimed. Phosphonite compounds (I) of formula (1) or (2) are claimed as are processes for their production, their use as ligands in transition metal complexes, novel transition metal complexes, processes for their production, their use as catalysts and processes in the presence of such transition metal complexes as catalysts. R ,R ,R -R = H, 1-8C alkyl, alkenyl or alkoxy; R = H or methyl; R = i-propyl or t-butyl; X = F, Cl or CF3 n = 1 or 2 Independent claims are included for: (1) Transition metal complexes (II) containing a phosphonite ligand of formula (1) or (2). (2) Processes for the production of transition metal complexes by reaction of a transition metal or tranisition metal compound with a phosphonite of formula (1) or (2). (3) A process for the addition of hydrocyanic acid to an olefinic double bond in the presence of a catalyst comprising a transition metal complex (II). (4) A process for the isomerization of organic nitriles in the presence of a catalyst comprising a complex (II).

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the hydroformylation of ethylenically unsaturated compounds, whereby at least one complex of a metal of subgroup VIII is used as the hydroformylation catalyst, having at least one compound containing phosphorus, arsenic, or antimony as a ligand. Each compound comprises two groups having a P, As, or Sb atom and at least two other heteroatoms, said groups being bound to a xanthene-type molecular structure. The invention also relates to novel compounds of this type and catalysts comprising at least one complex of a metal of subgroup VIII having at least one such compound as a ligand.

Abstract: Process for preparing aminodihalophosphines, diaminohalophosphines, triaminophosphines, phosphorous ester diamides, aminophosphines, diaminophosphines, phosphorous ester amide halides and aminophosphine halides with elimination of an acid in the presence of an auxiliary base, wherein the auxiliary base b) and the acid form a salt which is liquid at temperatures at which the desired product is not significantly decomposed during the process of separating off the liquid salt and c) the salt of the auxiliary base forms two immiscible liquid phases with the desired product or the solution of the desired product in a suitable solvent.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing aminodihalophosphines, diaminohalophosphines, triaminophosphines, phosphite diamides, aminophosphines, diaminophosphines, phosphite amide halogenides, and aminophosphine halogenides by separating an acid in the presence of an auxiliary base. Said auxiliary base b) forms a salt with an acid, which is liquid at temperatures at which the valuable product is not significantly decomposed during separation of the liquid salt, and c) the salt of the auxiliary base and the valuable product or the solution of the valuable product form two immiscible phases in a suitable solvent.

Abstract: A process for extractively removing nickel(0) complexes having phosphorus ligands and/or free phosphorus ligands from a reaction effluent of a hydrocyanation of unsaturated mononitriles to dinitriles by extraction by means of a hydrocarbon, a phase separation of the hydrocarbon and of the reaction effluent into two phases being effected at a temperature T (in ° C.), wherein the content of nickel(0) complexes having phosphorus ligands and/or free phosphorus ligands in the reaction effluent of the hydrocyanation, depending on the temperature T, is at least y % by weight and, irrespective of the temperature T, is a maximum of 60% by weight, where the numerical value of the minimum content y is given by the equation y=0.5.T+20 and T is to be used in the equation as a dimensionless numerical value.
