    Abstract: The present invention relates to glycin-N,N-carboxylic acid derivatives of formula (I) in which R is an organic radical comprising from 3 to 30 carbon atoms and containing at least one carbonyl group in its main chain; G and G represent independently C1-C3 alkylene; x and y are 1 or 2; and M is hydrogen, an alkaline metal, an alkaline-earth metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium. The compounds of formula (I) can be used as components having surfactant and complex-building properties in textile detergent formulations.
