Abstract:
A curvilinear spa shell includes a top edge defining four rounded concave corners and four convex side walls in a "clover leaf" like arrangement. Each rounded corner has a radius that exceeds twelve inches. The top edge is substantially symmetrical about an axes that extend through the center of opposing side walls as well as through the center of opposing corners. The curvilinear spa shell can accommodate a water feature for generating a pleasing rushing water sound. The water feature includes a ridge in an interior area of the spa and having a top disposed near a water line of the spa. The water feature utilizes a water inlet adjacent to the ridge opposite a main body of water area in the interior area. The water inlet is placed lower than the top of the ridge. The water feature also includes a slope descending from the top of the ridge in the direction of the water inlet. The slope includes a patterned top surface configured to interact with water flowing over the ridge, down the slope and toward the water inlet to produce the pleasing rushing water sound.
Abstract:
A walking cane (10) having a handle (20) having (a) a grasping device (22) that is operable by a user with the same hand which holds the handle and (b) one or both of the following devices: (A) a light source, including a light control switch (34,40) disposed on the handle, for illuminating a region near the distal end of the cane; and (B) a permanent magnet (46), preferably disposed on the handle, for attracting and holding objects which are made, at least in part, of magnetically permeable material.
Abstract:
The upper end of a rigid member (1), of generally rectilinear shape and used for leaning against the ground, is provided with a norrow saddle (2), intended to be held between the legs of the user. A device for attachment to the leg (4) sets the upper part (3, 11) of the support member (1) against the inside of the thigh of the handicapped leg, in order to hold the effective surface of the saddle (2) away from the medial plane (28) of the user while facing the ischium (29) on the side of the handicapped leg. The attachment device (4) forces the support member (1) to follow the swinging movements which the user imparts to the handicapped leg, while the other leg supports the body weight. This allows the user to walk with arms and hands free, and without the help of any other orthopaedic means. Since the weight of the body is transmitted to the saddle by the ischium, the leg muscles do not have to support any pressure or force.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a treatment apparatus for treating a gait irregularity of a person (1). The treatment apparatus (10) comprises a gait irregularity monitoring unit (11) for detecting a gait irregularity of the person, (a) cueing unit(s) (15, 16, 17), and a cueing control unit (14) for controlling the cueing unit(s) to provide, in response to the detection of the gait irregularity, a first cue set for treating the gait irregularity to the person. The gait irregularity monitoring unit monitors the effect of the providing of the first cue set to the person and determines whether the detected gait irregularity is being overcome. The cueing control unit controls the cueing unit(s) to provide a different second cue set to the person, if it has been determined that the detected gait irregularity has not been overcome. This improves the likelihood of being able to effectively treat the detected gait irregularity.
Abstract:
A CPR machine (100) is configured to perform, on a patient's (182) chest, compressions that alternate with releases. The CPR machine includes a compression mechanism (148), and a driver system (141) configured to drive the compression mechanism. A force sensing system (149) may sense a compression force, and the driving can be adjusted accordingly if there is a surprise. For instance, driving may have been automatic according to a motion-time profile, which is adjusted if the compression force is not as expected (850). An optional chest-lifting device (152) may lift the chest between the compressions, to assist actively the decompression of the chest. A lifting force may be sensed, and the motion-time profile can be adjusted if the compression force or the lifting force is not as expected.
Abstract:
A method of controlling a mobility device including at least one drive component that drives at least one joint component is described. The control may include providing said mobility device, providing an electronic communication device having a control application to be executed by the electronic control device, receiving an input of settings information to the electronic communication device, the settings information being stored by the control application, electronically connecting the electronic communication device to the mobility device, and executing the control application with the electronic communication device to perform a session of using the mobility device. The electronic communication device executes the control application to control the at least one drive component of the mobility device to selectively configure and modulate the at least one joint component in accordance with the settings information. The control application may be based on multiple device and/or user profiles with the settings being set based on the profiles. Session information may be displayed in real time as a displayed session dashboard, and stored in session logs for future review and analysis.
Abstract:
An example sexual stimulation device includes a drive module, a stimulating element, a fulcrum, and a compliant member. The stimulating element has a first end coupled to the drive module in a manner such that the first end of the stimulating element moves along a first path when the drive module is operated. The stimulating element also has a second end opposite the first end. The fulcrum is disposed at a first point along an extension of the stimulating element such that the stimulating element pivots about the first point and the second end of the stimulating element translates according to a second path. The compliant member is coupled to the second end of the stimulating element.
Abstract:
A device vibrates body tissue to reduce pain experience by the body tissue in a therapeutic procedure. The device includes a frame and a tip connectable to the frame which can be activated to produce vibration. An electromagnetic reader is connected to the frame and includes an antenna for sending and receiving electromagnetic radiation. An electromagnetic tag is connected to the removable tip, and also has an antenna for sending and receiving electromagnetic radiation in communication with the electromagnetic reader antenna. The antennas are disposed proximate to each other when the removable tip is connected to the frame, whereby the electromagnetic tag can transmit information to the electromagnetic reader.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a vibrotactile stimulation device (1) intended to be applied against a body environment (MC) to be stimulated and comprising a vibrating effector (10) suitable for applying, to said environment, pulses of mechanical vibrational energy, and means for controlling the effector according to stimulation rules. The device is remarkable in that it further comprises detector means (20) suitable for being exposed to the body environment in order to receive a part of the vibrational energy transmitted to said means by said environment during the application of the pulses of vibrational energy, and determine a transmission characteristic of the vibrational energy between the effector and the environment to be stimulated, said detector means being linked to the control means. Application to improving the efficacy of body stimulation in combating sleep apnoea.
