Abstract: The continuous recovery of (meth)acrylic acid (I) from a reaction gas (II), obtained by catalytic gas phase oxidation, includes quenching (II) by vapor cooling with a high-boiling solvent (III), separating (I) by absorption in (III), and separating the (I)-containing (III) by rectification into a first partial stream (PS1) containing mainly (I) and a second partial stream (PS2) containing mainly (III). The continuous recovery of (meth)acrylic acid (I) from a reaction gas (II), obtained by catalytic gas phase oxidation, comprises: (i) quenching (II) by vapor cooling with a high-boiling solvent (III), (ii) separating (I) by absorption in (III), (iii) separating the (I)-containing (III) into a first partial stream (PS1) containing mainly (I) and a second partial stream (PS2) containing mainly (III), (iv) recycling PS2 to step (ii) and (v) recovering (I) from PS1 by distillation and recycling liquid residual streams to step (i), Step (iii) is carried out by rectification.
