Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing paper, paperboard and cardboard by dehydrating paper material containing interfering substances in the presence of fixing agents. Reaction products are used as fixing agents. Said products are obtained by reacting polymers, containing amino and/or ammonium groups, from the group of: polymers containing vinyl amino units, polyalkylene polyamines, polyamidoamines, polyamidoamines grafted with ethylene imine and optionally cross-linked, polydiallydldimethylammoniumchlorides; polymers containing dialkylaminoalkylacrylamide-units or dialkylaminoalkylmethacrylamide units and polyallylamines and dicyandiamide-formaldehyde-condensates, with reactive sizing agents for paper with a polymer/reactive sizing agent weight ratio of 15,000 : 1 to 1 : 1. The invention also relates to reaction products thus obtained and to their use as fixing agents for water soluble and water insoluble interfering substances in the production of paper, paperboard and cardboard from paper materials containing interfering substances.

Abstract: Crosslinked, hydrolysed, linear polymers (I) of N-(2-(1'-aziridino)ethyl-formamide (AEF), obtained by reaction of (a) linear polymers of AEF from which at least 5 mol% of the formyl groups have been removed leaving free amino groups, with (b) at least bifunctional crosslinkers. Also claimed is a process for the production of (I) by reacting components (a) and (b) in aqueous medium to give water-soluble crosslinked polymers (I) with a viscosity of at least 100 mPa.s (in 25 wt% aqueous solution at 20 deg C and pH 7).

Also claimed is t he above process for the production of (I).

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for continuous production of homopolymers of ethylene imine by polymerisation of ethylene imine in a solvent in the presence of catalysts at temperatures of at least 80 DEG C in a homogenous fluid phase in a tubular reactor in which the ratio of the length to the internal diameter is at least 5. Polyethylene imines with a secondary nitrogen atom content of greater than 40 to 60 % and a molecular weight distribution Mw/Mn of 1.5 to 3 are obtained.
