    Abstract: Method of manufacturing finely divided, water-insoluble polymers of aziridines by polymerization of aziridines, preferably ethylene-imine, in the presence of two or more functional groups containing cross-linking agents in one or more ethers, as well as modified, water-insoluble polymers of aziridines that can be obtained by reacting finely divided, water-insoluble cross-linked polymers of aziridines in an aqueous medium with carbon disulphide or with formaldehyde and a nucleophilic agent from the group comprising alkali-metal cyanides, primary amines, secondary amines, alkali-metal sulphites, and alkali-metal phosphites, and the use of the modified and unmodified finely divided, water-insoluble polymers for immobilizing active ingredients, as absorbents for aldehydes, ketones and acids, for removing heavy-metal ions from liquid effluents, and for removing ozone and/or sour gases from air or inert gases.

    Abstract: Water-soluble condensation products (I) with a viscosity of at least 100 mPa.s in 20 wt% aqueous solution at 20 deg C, obtained by reacting (a) polyalkylene-polyamines, polyamido- amines and/or ethyleneimine-grafted polyamido-amines with (b) at least bifunctional halogen-free crosslinkers selected from (b1) ethylene carbonate, propylene carbonate and/or urea, (b2) mono- unsaturated carboxylic acids and their esters, amides and anhydrides, or at least dibasic saturated mono- or poly- carboxylic acids and derivatives as above, (b3) reaction products of polyether-diamines, alkylenediamines, polyalkylene-polyamines, alkylene glycols and/or polyalkylene glycols with mono- unsaturated carboxylic acids or derivatives thereof as above, in which the product contains at least two ethylenic double bonds or carboxylic acid, amide or ester functional groups and/or (b4) reaction products of dicarboxylic acid esters with ethyleneimine containing at least two aziridino groups. Also claimed is t he above process for the production of (I).

    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for continuous production of homopolymers of ethylene imine by polymerisation of ethylene imine in a solvent in the presence of catalysts at temperatures of at least 80 DEG C in a homogenous fluid phase in a tubular reactor in which the ratio of the length to the internal diameter is at least 5. Polyethylene imines with a secondary nitrogen atom content of greater than 40 to 60 % and a molecular weight distribution Mw/Mn of 1.5 to 3 are obtained.
