Abstract: PURPOSE:To make urethane foam swollen into close contact with the inner surface of a liquid container having the urethane foam inserted therein by using the urethane foam having swelling properties in relation to the liquid contents. CONSTITUTION:In a container for use in motion containing urethane foam to prevent its liquid contents from movement, the urethane foam having swelling properties in relation to the liquid contents is used. The swelling rate of the urethane foam is 5-60%, preferably 10-40%, and the urethane foam is adapted to be swollen into close contact with the inner surface of the container. In the case of watery liquid contents, a hydrophilic urethan foam is used and, in the polyol for use as the material of ordinary urethane foam, the material having ethylene oxide added thereto at a higher rate than polypropylene oxide is used.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title product having excellent buckling properties and causing no problem such as the generation of powder thereof when buckled, by simultaneously using a high-mol. wt. polyol and a low-mol. wt. polyol in a specific ratio therebetween and singly using a tert. amine as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective product is provided by using (A) polyols comprising a high-mol. wt. polyol having a hydroxyl group value of =200 (preferably polyol having a mol. wt. of 200-800) in a weight ratio of 4:6-6:4, (B) an organic polyisocyanate, (C) a catalyst comprising a tert. amine along and (D) a foaming raw material containing a foaming agent. The high-mol. wt. polyol in the component A includes, e.g., the ethylene oxide adduct of propylene glycol. The low-mol. wt. polyol includes, e.g., the ethylene oxide adduct of glycerol.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a sheet material which has a variety of beautiful colors and patterns and also has uneven patterns by impregnating an air-permeable surface material with a urethane foam to form then into one piece. CONSTITUTION: A soft urethane foam, in the form of froth, is set on a process sheet 1 by means of a doctor knife 3 so as to have a thickness of about 2mm. As a surface material, a nonwoven fabric comprising white nylon yarn and having a weight per square unit of 40g/m and provided with embossed patterns is placed from a position 4 onto the foam from above so as not to produce wrinkles and then the nonwoven fabric, as it is, heated, along a line, in an oven at about 120 deg.C for about 5 minutes. Thus, the surface material is impregnated with a urethane foam by heat and solidified into one piece, thereby manufacturing a sheet material. Thus, the sheet material with beautiful surface uneven patterns can be obtained continuously.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To press-cut a cutting surface of a foaming body into an intended taper shape by fixing an elastic body in contact with a Thomson cutter edge having a blocked shape or with an interval on the whole inner surface of the Thomson cutter edge. CONSTITUTION:An elastic body 6 having hardness higher than that of a soft foaming body 4 to be cut is fixed in contact with a Thomson cutter edge 3 having a blocked shape or with an interval on the whole inner surface of the Thomson cutter edge 3. Also, a disposal cutter edge 7 is arranged with a required interval on the outside of the Thomson cutter edge 3 disposed at outermost periphery. Furthermore, an elastic body equal to or different from the elastic body 6 is provided in contact with respective blades or with an interval between the Thomson cutter edge 3 and disposal cutter edge 7 and on the outside of the disposal cutter edge 7. A cutting surface of the soft foaming body 4 is press-cut into an intended taper shape by such a press-cutting device.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To alter the density only of the necessary part of the foam material inserted in an ink tank by a simple structure, in the ink tank of a recording apparatus, by forming a projection on the inner wall of the tank and compressing the foam material inserted in the ink tank by the projection to form an area partially high in density. CONSTITUTION:An air port 3 is provided to the lid member 2 of an ink tank main body 1 so that the inner pressure of an ink tank becomes same to atmospheric pressure and an ink discharge port 4 is provided to the bottom part on the side remote from the air port 3 of the main body 1 and a projection 5 is vertically provided to the lid member 2 toward the ink discharge port 4. A urethane foam material 6 is inserted in the ink tank main body 1 and the ink tank main body 1 is closed by the lid member 2. The inserted urethane foam material 6 is partially compressed by the projection 5 and a high density area A is formed to the urethane foam material 6 only in the vicinity of the ink discharge port 4. Therefore, the ink in the ink tank is successively consumed from the low density area B of the foam material 6 to the high density area A thereof and the residual amount of the ink in the ink tank is markedly reduced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and simply change surface condition of a roller only on arbitrary parts by heat-compressing a part of an elastic layer consisting of a foamed body to perform compression permanent deformation thereof and making thereby the number of cells of the part of the elastic layer larger than that before heat-compression. SOLUTION: In a roller with an elastic layer consisting of a foamed body, surface condition of the roller, especially the number of cells of a part of the elastic layer can be inexpensively and simply made larger than that before heat-compression by heat-compressing the part of the elastic layer. A base body of a paper feeding roller is constituted by covering the outer periphery of a shaft 2 with an elastic layer 3. As the elastic layer 3, a flexible urethane foam with the number of cells of 65 and whose cell film is an open-cell foam processed by an explosion method is used. The number of cells of the surfaces of recessed parts 40 of the elastic layer 3 of the paper feeding roller 1 obtd. after heating is approximately two-fold of the number of cells of the elastic layer before heat-compression and there exists no possibility of returning this deformation back to its original condition.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate various kinds of restrictions due to wiring and to increase safety and efficiency of operation by inserting a needle-shaped temperature sensor near the center of a polyurethane form and then transmitting measurement data by radio and then confirming the down point of temperature. CONSTITUTION:A thermometer such as a thermocouple type thermometer is housed in a metal capillary which is subjected to surface smoothing treatment and then is inserted near the center of a polyurethane form. Then, temperature change is converted to electrical output, is converted to digital data, and then is transmitted to a receiver 28 by radio. The receiver 28 receives the data which are transmitted by radio 30, demodulates them 32, performs processing by an MCPU 36 via an interface 34, and then sends them to a recorder 40 inside a monitor room after D/A conversion 39. A monitoring person observes the temperature near the center of the form at a lapse of time and then sends the form to a next process when the temperature goes down after it reaches a peak point judging that maturing is completed, thus eliminating an unneeded maturing period and the need for transferring to a maturing room and then preventing the worker from being exposed to an organic solvent in a high and narrow maturing chamber.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain polyurethane foam with a colorful multicolor pattern by a method wherein pattern is formed by mixing foams with a plurality of color tones in polyurethane foam, which is obtained by the reaction of hydroxyl compound with isocyanate. CONSTITUTION:Colorant is intermittently charged in an introducing pipe line 6 to lead hydroxyl compound to a mixing head. A colorant tank 4, a pump 5 and a hydroxyl compound introducing pipe line 6 are connected by pipe lines 7 and 8 and a bypass pipe line 9 is connected between the pipe lines 7 and 8. An on-off valve 10 is provided near the introducing pipe line 6 in the pipe line 8. An on-off valve 11 and a throttle valve 12 are provided in the bypass pipe line 9. The colorant is charged in the introducing pipe line 6 with flows of hydroxyl compound by continuously running the pump 5 and opening the valve 10. The colorant is circulated through the bypass pipe line 9 by closing the valve 10 and opening the valve 11. The throttle valve 12 is used for maintaining the pressure of the colorant during circulation higher than its pressure during delivery in order to realize the stable charging of the colorant.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the sound absorbing characteristics to frequencies from a low region to a middle region without increasing the thickness of this sound absorbing material so much by laminating a synthetic resin foam having air permeability and an air encapsulated plastic film. CONSTITUTION:The air encapsulated plastic film 1 is stuck and laminated on the soft polyurethane foam 2 having air permeability. A plastic film formed into a two-layered or three-layered structure by sticking a flat back film to a cap film which is formed by using, for example, a high-pressure polyethylene and subjecting this raw material to vacuum forming, then encapsulaing the air into the cap is exemplified as the plastic film 1 described above. The sound waves propagate the fine holes in the cells and infiltrate the inside of the soft polyethylene foam when the sounds are made incident on this foam. At this time, the film plane induces vibrations and consumes part of the sounds when the sound waves come into contact with the cell walls of the thin film. Further, the viscosity of the air and the thermal loss by friction increase the attenuation of the sounds as well, thereby absorbing the sounds.
