Abstract:
PURPOSE: To connect a wired OR signal line without interlocking in a bus connection device connected to the bus of an extension box or the other system through a signal transmission line whose signal form is different from the bus. CONSTITUTION: Substitution mechanisms 46 substituting the level of the wired OR signal line 51 of the other bus are provided for respective systems. The level of the signal line 51 is transmitted to the substitution mechanism 46 of the other system through a channel. When the substitution mechanism 46 is in a prescribed level, the system prevents the level of the signal line 51 from being transmitted to the other system. Thus, it is avoided that the transmission of the level avoids the continuation of echoing between the systems, and interlocking is released. Re-substitution mechanisms 47 making the mirror images of the substitution mechanisms of the other systems are provided for both systems. A prescribed level is transmitted to the substitution mechanism 47 of the other system based on the non-matching of the level of the re-substitution mechanism 47 with the level of the signal line 51 of the system.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the computer system which enables an adapter, etc., to be mounted and dismounted even in a system operation state and can automatically reconstituting system constitution according to the mounting and dismounting of the adapter etc. SOLUTION: When the adapter 2 is mounted, an adapter detecting mechanism 11 informs a resource manager of the mounting of the adapter 2 by interruption etc. The resource manager connects the adapter 2 to the system mechanically and electrically right after the adapter 2 is mounted and reads attribute information on the adapter 2 out of the memory in the adapter 2 to make a necessary setup and the installation of a device driver and the allocation of a memory, etc., needed on the system side so that an application program can use the adapter 2. When the user wants to dismount the adapter, the user sends an adapter removal request to the resource manager with an adapter removal button 12 or by a program.

PURPOSE:To display an image plane consisting of an optional number of lines than the number of display liens of a display device at an optional vertical position on a display panel at all times by providing a means which generates a signal for varying and setting the number of blank feeding shift clock pulses, feeding lines with the blank feeding shift clock, and making no display in the blank feeding period. CONSTITUTION:A generation part 60 for a horizontal synchronizing signal as an interface signal to a matrix display device consists of a generating circuit 61 for the blank feeding shift clock, a generating circuit 62 for pulses of frequency which is an (n) times as high as a horizontal synchronizing signal, and a kick circuit 63 for the generating circuit 61. In this case, lines are fed on the display device by as many as the blank feeding shift clock pulses in the blank feeding period and no display is made throughout the period. For the purpose, this blank feeding period is so set that when the number of lines on the image plane is smaller than that of the display panel, parts of unnecessary lines at the upper and lower part of the display panel are fed in blank, thereby displaying the image plane in the center. Further, the image plane can easily be displayed at an optical desired vertical position.

PURPOSE:To facilitate the conversion, and also, to hold sequence and magnitude of a relative luminance of M pieces of gradations by specifying a relation of K, M and N, in the case of converting arbitrary M pieces of gradations of a K gradation gray scale to an N gradation. CONSTITUTION:A gray scale converter is formed by a first table Tin and a second table Tout. The table Tin is a processing table for generating the table Tout, and mapped to an N gradation having sequence and magnitude of M pieces of gradation relative luminances in a K gradation. Subsequently, the contents of the table Tin are allowed to correspond to the K gradation, and mapped to the table Tout. In this case, when there is a condition of K>N>=M, the conversion corresponds to one-to-one and executed easily. Also, even when a CRT controller can use only an arbitrary N gradation in the K gradation, a display can be executed on a panel PDP.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To modify a frequency of a video clock, without affecting the quality of display. SOLUTION: A method to decrease the video clock frequency includes steps of: detecting momentum for lowering the video clock frequency; lowering the video clock frequency within a range in which a circuit using the video clock, such as a PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) circuit can track the frequency fluctuation; and repeating the step for lowering the video clock frequency, until the video clock frequency modified with the step reaches a predefined frequency. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the frequency of a video clock so as not to affect display quality by providing a step of lowering the frequency of the video clock and a step of repeating this step until the changed frequency of the video clock becomes a prescribed frequency. SOLUTION: First of all, the timing to change the frequency of the video clock (Vclk) is detected (S110). Next, it is judged from the name of an application on a window displayed on a screen whether the frequency of Vclk is changed or not (S120). Next, when changing the frequency of Vclk, there are the cases of increasing and decreasing the frequency and corresponding to the cases, processing is made different (S130). Therefore, it is reported to a user to lower the frequency of Vclk (S140). Then, processing for actually lowering the frequency of Vclk is executed (S150), it is judged whether or not processing is finished and when not finished, it is returned to S110 again (S170).
