Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend a cell size or an access range without expending high investment cost attending redesign by allowing a correction timing protocol to transmit a base station signal when between the start and the end of a retrieval window, that is, between a timing advance fetch time and a time corresponding to a bit limit of an ASIC correlation device, in addition to the timing advance fetch time. SOLUTION: This base station 30 can detect a signal sent from a mobile telephone set wherever the mobile telephone set resides in a cell 34, including position in excess of an access range resulting from bit limitation on an ASIC device without re-design of the ASIC correlation device. The signal sent by the mobile telephone set resident at a position in excess of the limit by the ASIC correlation device can be received within the retrieval window, by shifting the retrieval window and/or a base station transmission time with respect to a frame border. This can be attained through the use of the correction timing protocol.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for early terminating burst transmission in order to avoid interference. SOLUTION: The method for terminating burst transmission from a mobile station to a base station in this invention, includes a step (A) where power of the burst transmission is adjusted on the basis of it that the signal to interference ratio(SIR) of the burst transmission is apart from an object SIR, a step (B) where the object SIR is adjusted for the burst transmission a step (C) where the operating SIR bringing an interference level of the burst transmission into the outside of the permissible range is compared with the object SIR, a step (D) where the object SIR is decreased on the basis of it that the adjusted object SIR is higher than the operating SIR at the outside of the permissible range, and a step (E) where the burst transmission is stopped on the basis of it that the adjusted object SIR is decreased.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transmission rate allocation efficiency of a wireless system by selecting a data rate sufficient for the support of the data rate of a communication link which is measured from data rate mode for a given user. SOLUTION: Management/control functions are supplied to the component of a wireless network. A mobile switch center(MSC) 100 supplies an interface between the wireless network and a cable network (PSTN) 110 or with a different wireless network (MSC) 120. A base station controller(BSC) 102 supplies the control and management functions to a base transceiver station(BTS) 104. The data rate of transmission on a communication link to a given user is measured on the basis of the measurement value of data in a data buffer. A data rate sufficient for supporting the data rate of the communication link, which is measured from a plurality of data rate modes, is selected to the given user.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for efficiently utilizing a spectrum resource belonging to a wireless communication system having a data channel by discontinuous data transmission technology. SOLUTION: In the discontinuous data transmission technology, a flag is transmitted through a control channel (or another communication channel) in a frame (f). The flag gives an aimed receiver the indication that a transmitter has a data frame to be transmitted to the aimed receiver in a certain future frame (f+q). When the flag indicates that the transmission of the data frame has been prepared in a certain execution format, the transmitter continuously transmits the data frame through a data channel (or another communication channel) in the frame (f+q). When the receiver does not display that the reception of the data frame from the transmitter has been prepared by another flag in another execution format, the data frame is not transmitted.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately set an initial power level by calculating an interference measure from pilot power received by a mobile station and setting the initial power level of a forward direction link based on the interference measure. SOLUTION: A base station starts (210) the setting process of a call in response to an access probe from the mobile station and appropriately sets (220) the initial power level by using a pilot parameter Ec/Io (energy per chip to interference density) received by the mobile station obtained within access probe transmission. Then, the base station calculates a difference between the Ec/Io received by the mobile station and the Ec/Io transmitted by the base station and calculates (230) the interference measure. Then, the base station uses the interference measure and appropriately sets the initial power level on a forward direction link traffic channel. In the case that the interference measure indicates the interference of a high level, a high initial power level is set for the forward direction link traffic channel.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an inter-frequency hand-off quality by minimizing repetitions of the inter-frequency hand-off between an existing connection frequency and a new connection frequency. SOLUTION: Communication units 103 and 104 of a multi-carrier CDMA system 100 perform transmitting and receiving operations via different frequency bands corresponding to different carriers. Radio signals corresponding to the different carriers are combined together by a combiner in the forward direction before these signals are transmitted from an antenna. In the opposite direction, signals received at the antenna are turned into signals corresponding to the different carriers through a filter. The same traffic channel is used for this connection as long as the communication units 103 to 105 are kept in the same cell in response to each call. When the units 103 to 105 move to another cell, an hand-off operation is carried out via the same or different frequency bands between a base station under the service that is controlled by a relevant communication unit and a base station of the new cell.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce capacity loss when a wide band code division multiple access (CDMA) (W-CDMA) system which uses several carriers overlaps an IS-95 carrier. SOLUTION: First of all, a carrier use/interference level for each carrier is decided. On the basis of the decided level, a demultiplexer 114 non-uniformly distributes a carrier allotment. This distribution operates so that it avoids a carrier the use rate/interference of which is high and selects a carrier. For example, in the case of a three carrier system in which a carrier f1 is used by an IS-95 user, while f2 and f3 do not have the IS-95 user, diffusion is non- uniformly distributed across three frequencies like f1 , f2 , f3 , f2 , f3 , f1 , f2 , f3 , f2 , f3 ,....
