    Abstract: PURPOSE: A thermostat of an engine using a split cooling system is provided to prevent heat injury of a bore in a cylinder block due to inferior opening of the thermostat by allowing opening and closing of the thermostat controlling flowing channel of coolant depending on temperature of coolant to be determined by differential pressure acting on a front end and a rear end of the thermostat. CONSTITUTION: A sub thermostat(16) comprises a valve sheet(16a) controlling flowing of coolant between an outlet of a cylinder block side water jacket and an inlet of a thermostat housing; a return spring(16b) elastically supporting a rear side of the valve sheet; and a frame(16c) fixing the return spring. Spring constant of the return spring is set to allow the valve sheet to be opened when the differential pressure between pressure of coolant in the cylinder block side water jacket and pressure of coolant in the thermostat housing is about 0.6 bar. The spring constant is set so for the differential pressure is 0.6 bar when RPM of an engine reaches 4000 RPM as a bore in a cylinder block is thermally deformed when the sub thermostat is not opened while the RPM of the engine is 4000 RPM.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A water jacket of a cylinder head is provided to evenly cool down an exhaust port of each of cylinder of the cylinder head and improve cooling performance by additionally forming a section sudden reducing part on an exhaust side of the water jacket to reduce flowing sectional area and induce depression so as to induce even flowing of coolant for each of the cylinders. CONSTITUTION: A section sudden reducing part(28) is formed on a part of a lower flowing channel(24) which is an upper stream of a part of the lower flowing channel merged with a middle flowing channel(26) to reduce flowing sectional area of the lower flowing channel for each of cylinders of a water jacket(10). Flow rate of coolant in the lower flowing channel is increased in the downstream of the section sudden reducing part with the section sudden reducing part as a starting point. Pressure in the downstream is reduced relatively with the upper stream centering on the section sudden reducing part. The other section sudden reducing part(30) is formed on a part of an upper flowing channel(22) which is the downstream of a part of the upper flowing channel merged with the middle flowing channel to reduce flowing sectional area of the upper flowing channel so as to induce falling of pressure only for a first combustion chamber nearest to a coolant inlet(12).

The cylinder head is manufactured with eliminating sand from the intake port core(S7). Tumble is formed with minimizing flow resistance of air, and expenses are reduced with simple structure.
