Abstract: In a block copolymer (I) containing at least two hard blocks (S1, S2) prepared from a vinylaromatic monomer (M1) and, between them, at least one soft block (BS) prepared from M1 and a diene (M2), the proportion of hard blocks is over 40 wt.% of total (I). Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) mixtures of (I) and additional styrene polymers; and (b) preparation of (I) by sequential anionic polymerization, with at least polymerization of BS being in presence of a potassium salt.

Abstract: Elastomeric block copolymers comprising at least one hard block A composed of styrene monomers and at least one elastomeric block (B/A) composed of styrene monomers and dienes, the glass transition temperature Tg of the block A being more than 25° C. and that of block (B/A) being less than 25° C. and the phase volume ratio of block A to block (B/A) being chosen so that the proportion of the hard phase in the total block copolymer is from 1 to 40% by volume and the amount by weight of the diene is less than 50% by weight, and the relative proportion of 1,2 linkages of the polydiene, based on the sum of 1,2- and 1,4-cis/trans linkages, being below 15%, are prepared by anionic polymerization by means of a lithium alkyl in a nonpolar solvent in the presence of a soluble potassium salt and are used for the production of shaped articles.

Polymer mixture comprises: (A) 1-85 wt.% elastomeric block copolymer with hard blocks S of vinyl aromatic monomers and statistical soft blocks B/S of dienes and vinyl aromatic monomers with a block structure(s) of S-B/S-S, whereby the diene content is at most 50 wt.% and the soft phase of B/S blocks comprises at least 60 wt.%; (B) 5-89 wt.% of a different block diene-vinyl aromatic monomers copolymer; (C) 10-94 wt.% transparent or impact polystyrene; and (D) 0-84 wt.% additives. An Independent claim is included for fibers, films and molded articles made from the above polymer mixture.

Abstract: Thermoplastic molding compositions comprisingA) a graft polymer comprising1) an elastomeric graft core, obtainable by copolymerization of one or more C1-C10-alkyl acrylates, and a monomer with crosslinking effect, and2) a graft shell comprising a styrene compound or a C1-C8-alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, or a mixture of the styrene compound and the C1-C8-alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, andB) a thermoplastic polymer comprisingC) an elastomeric block copolymer in which all or virtually all of the olefinic double bonds have been hydrogenated, comprising at least one block A, which forms a hard phase and contains, in its polymer chain, units of a vinylaromatic monomer, and/or a block B, which forms a first elastomeric (soft) phase and contains diene monomers, and at least one elastomeric block B/A, which forms a soft phase, and contains, randomly in its polymer chain, units of both a vinylaromatic monomer and a diene, where the glass transition temperature Tg of the block A is above 25° C. and that of the block B/A is below 25° C. and the phase-volume ratio of block A to block B/A is chosen so that the proportion of the hard phase in the entire block copolymer is from 1 to 40% by volume and the proportion by weight of the diene is less than 50% by weight.
