Abstract: PURPOSE:To readily obtain the high-purity compound with a low content of orthophosphoric acid without converting a reactional product into a high- viscosity gelatinous substance by reacting P2O5 with a phosphorylating agent such as phosphoric acid and an organic hydroxy compound according to a specified method. Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a production process for alkylglycoside which has a good color phase, extremely good smell and extremely reduced content of unreacting higher alcohol with high economical advantage. CONSTITUTION:At first, higher alcohols are removed from the alkylglycoside products containing unreacting higher alcohol formed by reaction of a saccharide and higher fatty alcohol until the content is lowered lower than 2.5wt.%. Then, the resultant crude glycoside is allowed to flow in a thin film, which is brought into contact with steam or an inert gas at 100 to 200 deg.C under 25 to 200mmHg pressure, as the superficial linear velocity of the steam or the inert gas is set less than 10m/sec, to give the alkylglycoside of less than 0.5wt.% higher alcohol content.

This process according to the present invention can be applied to a mixture of phosphoric acid esters.
