    Abstract: The present invention provides a process for producing low-emission flexible polyurethane foams having a reduced odor and reduced fogging by reacting a) polyisocyanates with b) compounds having at least two hydrogen atoms which are reactive toward isocyanate groups, c) blowing agents wherein polyether alcohols which have been prepared by addition of alkylene oxides onto compounds derived from renewable raw materials using DMC catalysts are used as compounds b) having at least two hydrogen atoms which are reactive toward isocyanate groups.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing polyether alcohols, comprising the following steps: a) reacting a low-molecular alcohol with alkylene oxide in the presence of a basic catalyst in order to form an alkylene oxide addition product having a molecular weight ranging from 200 to 900 g/mol; b) separating the basic catalyst from the product obtained in step a), and; c) reacting the product obtained in step b) with another alkylene oxide in order to produce the desired final product while using at least one DMC catalyst. The inventive method is characterized in that sodium hydroxide is used as the basic catalyst in step a).
