Abstract: The invention relates to an aqueous polymer dispersion containing a polymer, which can be produced by a radically initiated emulsion polymerization from ethylenically unsaturated, radically polymerizable monomers, wherein the polymerization of the monomers is carried out in the presence of a specific molecular weight regulator composition. The molecular weight regulator composition contains at least one mercaptoalkylcarboxylic acid ester of a C2 to C4 carboxylic acid and at least one oligomeric compound of formula R1-X-(A-S-)n-A-Y-R2, where R1 and R2 denote H or CH3-(CH2)0-2-C(=0)-, X and Y denote an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, A denotes a divalent C1- to C18-alkylene group, and n denotes a number from 1 to 8. The invention further relates to a method for producing the aqueous polymer dispersion. The polymer dispersion can be used as a binder, adhesive, sizing agent for fibers, for producing coatings or for producing paper coating compounds.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for obtaining formic acid by thermally separating a flow containing formic acid and a tertiary amine (I), wherein a liquid flow containing formic acid, tertiary amine (I), and water is produced by bringing together a tertiary amine (I) and a formic acid source in the presence of water, water and organic decomposition products of the tertiary amine (I) are removed, and formic acid is removed from the obtained liquid flow by means of distillation in a distillation device, wherein the removed flow containing water and organic decomposition products of the tertiary amine (I) is separated into two liquid phases, the upper liquid phase is removed, and the lower liquid phase containing water is fed back to the formic acid source.

Abstract: A continuous process for the preparation of propylene oxide, comprising (i) providing a liquid feed stream comprising propene, hydrogen peroxide, acetonitrile, water, optionally propane, and at least one dissolved potassium salt of a phosphorus oxyacid wherein the molar ratio of potassium relative to phosphorus in the at least one potassium salt of a phosphorus oxyacid is in the range of from 0.6 to 1.4; (ii) passing the liquid feed stream provided in (i) into an epoxidation reactor comprising a catalyst comprising a titanium zeolite of structure type MWW comprising zinc, and subjecting the liquid feed stream to epoxidation reaction conditions in the epoxidation reactor, obtaining a reaction mixture comprising propylene oxide, acetonitrile, water, the at least one dissolved potassium salt of a phosphorus oxyacid, optionally propene, and optionally propane; (iii) removing an effluent stream from the epoxidation reactor, the effluent stream comprising propylene oxide, acetonitrile, water, at least a portion of the at least one dissolved potassium salt of a phosphorus oxyacid, optionally propene, and optionally propane.
