Abstract: A ternary platinum alloy catalyst on a conductive carbon carrier for use in fuel cells is disclosed. For the production of the catalyst, nitrate salts are used as precursors of the alloy components and all alloy components are deposited concurrently on the carbon carrier. This method of procedure yields ageing-stable catalysts with high oxygen mass activity.

Abstract: A zeolite catalyst and a method for reduction of nitrogen oxides present in waste gas streams is described. The method includes mixing the waste gas containing nitrogen oxides with ammonia. At an elevated temperature, this mixture is passed over a zeolite catalyst. Preferably, the zeolite catalyst is in a monolithic or honeycomb form. The zeolite catalyst includes one or more of the following subgroup metals: copper, iron, molybdeum and cerium. The zeolite catalysts made in accordance with this invention show better conversion of nitrogen oxides and longer life than known catalysts.

Abstract: A catalyst for the selective reduction of nitrogen oxides by means of ammonia contains, in addition to titanium oxide as component A), at least one oxide selected from the group comprising W, Si, B, Al, P, Zr, Ba, Y, La and Ce and at least one oxide selected from the group comprising V, Nb, Mo, Fe and Cu as component B), the atomic ratio between the elements of the components A) and B) being 1 : 0.001 to 1. The catalyst is obtainable by kneading reactive titanium oxide of high specific surface area comprising predominantly anatase with the substances comprising component B) or their precursors with the addition of processing agents to give a homogeneous kneaded mass, extruding this, drying the extrudate and calcination in air at 300 - 800 DEG C.

Abstract: Pressed titanium dioxide is produced by intensively mixing pyrogenically prepared titanium dioxide in the presence of deionised water with a humectant and/or a base and/or, if appropriate, a binder and/or, if appropriate, a forming aid and/or, if appropriate, a pore former, extruding the resulting mass at pressures of between 5 and 100 bar to give mouldings, drying the mouldings at temperatures between 50 and 120 DEG C and then calcining them for 1 to 5 hours in ambient air at temperatures from 400 to 700 DEG C.
