    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide sufficient gas adsorption ability without deterioration of other cathode-ray tube characteristics by connecting the final electrode on fluorescent face side of an electron gun tip to a neck getter through a thermal buffer unit. CONSTITUTION:A neck getter 20 containing nitride is connected to the tip portion of an electron gun 6. And this neck getter 20 is forther connected to the electron gun 6 through a thermal buffer unit 40. The buffer unit 40 is connected thereto by a supporting unit 41 and formed in an annular body so as to surround passing ara of electronic beam 8B, 8G, 8R, and made of such a material that can be subjected to induction heating and that is non-magnetic, e.g. stainless. Such a getter 20 can be heated to evaporate by heating with a toroidal magnetic field 31 generated from a toroidal coil 30 concentrically arranged. Thus, sufficient gas adsorption ability can be obtained and other cathode-ray tube characteristics are prevented from deterioration.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To correct deflection aberration of an electron beam caused by a magnetic field of a deflector so as to enhance a focusing characteristic in the peripheral portion of a screen by disposing an annular permanent magnetic device provided with eight-pole magnetic field therearound on the passageway of a three-electron beam between the deflector and the electron lens portion of an electron gun structure. CONSTITUTION:An annular permanent magnet device 28 having eight magnetic poles therearound is disposed on the passageway of a three-electron beam between a deflector 21 and the electron lens portion of an electron gun structure 20. Namely, independent formation of the magnetic poles on the annular permanent magnet device makes difficult directional shift of a line of a magnetic force at the time of magnetization so that the magnetic poles can be positioned precisely with respect to the deflector 21, thereby generating an axially symmetrical magnetic field. An electron beam can be prevented from becoming elliptic caused by a barrel magnetic field of a second deflection coil 25 and inclination of a pair of side beams can be effectively corrected without exerting any adverse effect on a convergence characteristic of the three-electron beam.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To assemble a shadow mask into the inside of a panel accurately by engaging three elastic supporting members in a predetermined shape with three stud pins to be locked, and supporting a shadow mask inside of a panel temporarily, and thereafter, welding the shadow mask integrally at a panel opening side end of lock parts where a connection and fixation part is engaged with a stud pin for lock. CONSTITUTION:Each nearly v-shaped elastic supporting member 31a in the integral structure is welded to each outside face of three corners of a mask frame 7, and a connection and fixation part 36, which consists of a fixation part 32b and a connection part 34b connected integrally with each other and for forming a nearly z-shaped elastic supporting member 31b, is welded to the residual one corner. A shadow mask 5 is supported temporarily inside of a panel 2 by three nearly v-shaped elastic supporting members 31a, and a locking part 33b forming the nearly z-shaped elastic supporting member 31b is engaged for lock with the stud pin 30 facing to the connection and fixation part 36, and they are welded at an opening side end 37 of the panel 2. A universal member of panel and mask is thereby assembled accurately, and workability of the assembly can be improved.

The distortion that the magnetic field component in the direction parallel with the tube axis of the vertical deflecting rear magnetic field of the deflecting device 9 gives a spot of the electron beam can thereby be corrected, and the beam spot form in the end of a vertical axis of a faceplate is made fine to obtain the fine focus characteristic over the whole of the faceplate.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent color purity deterioration such as color shift and color shading by forming an electron absorbing layer precisely and easily in a desired position of a shadow mask within a color picture tube. CONSTITUTION:The formation of electron absorbing layers 33a, 33b on a shadow mask 31 of a color picture tube comprises a step of coating the shadow mask 31 with a sensitizing agent, a step of exposing the sensitizing film in an unnecessary part of the electron absorbing layers 33a, 33b to light to harden said film, and a step of developing and removing the sensitizing film in the non-sensitized part. Further, it comprises a step of coating the electron absorbing layer 33a, 33b, a step of removing the hardened sensitizing film and the electron absorbing layer 33a, 33b present thereon, and a step of subjecting the shadow mask 31 to a thermal treatment. According to such manufacturing method of the color picture image, the electron absorbing layer can be precisely and easily formed in a desired position of the shadow mask. Hence, the displacement of electron beams by dreaming can be effectively corrected.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the movement of an electron beam caused by the doming by connecting a resistor between a shadow mask and a high-voltage supplying body. CONSTITUTION:A resistor 17 is electrically connected between a shadow mask 7 and a high-voltage supplying body 14. According to such a color picture tube, even if a doming phenomenon is generated by the shadow mask 7, the decelerating electric field strongly deflecting in the direction apart from the tube axis is generated near the shadow mask 7 by the voltage drop across the resistor 17. Therefore, the landing position of an electron beam to be moved in the tube axis direction from the preset landing position by the doming phenomenon is offset to be returned to the original landing position again. Accordingly, the displacement of an electron beam caused by the doming of the shadow mask can be reduced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make a purity drift not produced for hours even in case of using a shadow mask small in a coefficient of thermal expansion and an iron mask frame by using a specific support member. CONSTITUTION:A support member 30, having a top part, is formed into V-shaped or U-shaped form in a section in the direction of a tube shaft 17, and it consists of a first member 32 extending toward a stand pin 22 from the top part with a certain angle to the tube shaft 17 and a second member 33 extending toward a shadow mask 18 from the top part with a certain angle to the tube shaft 17. Accordingly, even if a mask frame 19 is spread in the peripheral direction by thermal expansion, it is in no case shifted toward a phosphor screen. Otherwise, the travel is possible to be set to the desired small value. In this manner, the mask frame 19 is supported at four corners, and in case of a color picture tube where a coefficient of thermal expansion in the shadow mask 18 is small as compared with the mask frame 19, a purity drift for long hours is improvable.
