Abstract: PURPOSE: A variable valve lift apparatus with a swing arm is provided to enable a cylinder to be effectively controlled according to the operating state of an engine since the swing arm consists of inner and outer bodies and a latching tool which connects or disconnects them, thus causing the movement of the valve to be variably controlled. CONSTITUTION: For a variable valve lift apparatus with a swing arm, the swing arm(100) comprises an outer body(105b), an inner body(105a), and a latching unit. The outer body comprises a mounting hole on the center thereof. The inner body is installed in the mounting hole of the outer body. The rear end of the inner body is connected to the outer body with a hinge(115). The latching unit fixes or releases the front end of the inner body to/from the outer body and variably drives a valve(140).

Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling an engine of a vehicle are provided to control idle surge generated by incomplete combustion of unburned gas remaining in a cylinder during idling of the engine. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus includes a throttle detecting part(10) detecting opening ratio of a throttle valve interlocked with an accelerator pedal to output; a crank angle detecting part(20) outputting rotating angle of a rotating crank shaft to determine ignition timing for each of cylinders; a cam position detecting part(30) detecting and outputting position of a suction and exhaust cam installed by fixed angle for each of the cylinders on a fixed location of a cam shaft rotated by rotation of the crank shaft; a control part(40) determining whether an engine is in idling state, determining whether idle surge occurs due to incomplete combustion of unburned remaining gas through measuring fluctuation of RPM of the engine if the engine is in idling state, and controlling occurrence of idle surge by adjusting ignition timing and amount of idle intake air; an ISA(Idle Speed Actuator:50) driven by duty control signal impressed by the control part to adjust amount of idle intake air introduced to each of the cylinders; and an ignition coil(60) having intermitting timing of a primary coil adjusted by control signal impressed by the control part so as to adjust ignition timing of each of the cylinders.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for reducing the rattle of an automobile is provided to quantitatively measure vibration by installing an acceleration sensor in a transmission case and control engine output based on the measurement. CONSTITUTION: If an engine is started, an automobile operation state detector receives changes in an automobile operation state for calculating an RPM(Revolutions Per Minute) angular velocity(S100,S110,S120). The automobile operation state detector transforms the RPM angular velocity and transmission case acceleration through FFT(Fast Fourier Transform)(S130). It is judged whether engine idle is normal(S140,S150). If so, it is judged whether the rattle of the transmission is generated(S160). If so, a deviation of an RPM is calculated to be compared with a set reference so that an ignition period is controlled(S170,S180).

Abstract: PURPOSE: An off-idle knock is expected beforehand to control fuel amount, thereby stabilizing engine combustion. CONSTITUTION: An engine fuel amount and rpm are detected by a throttle position sensor and a crank position sensor respectively. A voltage value of a throttle position sensing signal of the throttle position sensor is sensed, and rpm of engine is calculated by a crank position sensing signal from the crank position sensor. An off-idle knock is decided if the voltage value of the throttle position sensing signal increases abruptly over a set value and the engine rpm is reduced abruptly compared to an idle rpm. If the off-idle knock is decided, the fuel amount supplied to the engine is increased by a certain value.
