    Abstract: Polymers of olefinically unsaturated monomers and solutions of polymers of olefinically unsaturated monomers obtainable by polymerising the olefinically unsaturated monomers in the presence of free radical-forming initiators in solution under otherwise prespecified polymerisation conditions in a process in which a solvent and/or a liquid part of one or more reaction components of the polymerisation batch is initially introduced and heated to the polymerisation temperature, and, while maintaining or initiating the polymerisation, some or all of the monomers to be polymerised are fed continuously, via at least one feed, to the initially introduced part of the polymerisation batch (which is kept in motion), in such a manner that the exit opening of the at least one feed is above the surface of the initially introduced liquid part of the polymerisation batch.

    Abstract: Synthetic resins are obtainable by chemically bonding one or more compounds of the general formula I (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) (I) where R1 is -OH, -NH2, (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) -NHR3 or (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) R2 is -H, -CH3 or -C2H5, R3 is -CmH2m+1, where m is from 1 to 6, R4 is -H or -CH3 and n is from 1 to 12, via the oxygen or nitrogen atom of R1 to one or more polymers A which consist of a) from 50 to 100% by weight of one or more esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid with monohydric alcohols of 1 to 18 carbon atoms or a mixture of these esters (monomers a) and b) from 0 to 50% by weight of other copolymerizable monomers (monomers b) in polymerized form, in amounts such that the synthetic resin contains from 0.01 to 1 mole of double bonds per kg of polymer A. After exposure to ultraviolet light or to electrons, these synthetic resins are suitable as contact adhesives.

    Abstract: The novel copolymers having K values of from 5 to 80 are prepared by free-radical polymerisation of A) 20 to 80% by weight, based on the total weight of (A) and (B), of at least one olefinically unsaturated polyoxyalkylene alcohol or polyester alcohol adduct, (B) 80 to 20% by weight, based on the total weight of (A) and (B), of at least one vinyl monomer from the group comprising N-vinylformamide, -2-pyrrolidone, -2-piperidone, -2-caprolactam, -imidazole, -2-ethyleneurea and -2-propyleneurea, C) 0 to 40 parts by weight of glycidyl acrylate and/or glycidyl methacrylate, D) 0 to 10 parts by weight of at least one alpha , beta -monoolefinically unsaturated acid and E) 0 to 30 parts by weight of at least one olefinically unsaturated carboxamide and/or carboxylate and/or styrene, the parts by weight of (C), (D) and (E) in each case being based on 100 parts by weight of the monomers (A) and (B). The copolymers are used as assistants and/or additives, for example as dispersion and/or emulsification assistants, or as additives for improving the mechanical properties, in formulations for the preparation of polyisocyanate polyaddition products.
