Abstract: The present invention achieves power savings by turning off all or some of the baseband processing for codes and timeslots that have not been transmitted due to full or partial DTX. With respect to partial DTX, the transmitted codes and associated timeslots and radio frames within the shortest TTI in the CCTrCH are determined from the received TFCI. Thereafter, the receiver is turned off for the unused codes as indicated by the received TFCI. With respect to full DTX, following TFCI reception, the receiver is turned off for all timeslots within the shortest TTI.

Abstract: A system and method that achieve power savings by turning off all or some of the baseband processing for codes and timeslots that have not been transmitt ed due to full DTX. When full DTX is detected by reception of a Special Burst (SB), the receiver is turned off for all timeslots and frames for the durati on of the Special Burst Scheduling Period (SBSP) (Step 20). The transmitter schedules transmissions following any idle period to start on the boundary o f the SBSP. The receiver determines the SBSP and if the transmitter initiates transmissions according to SBSP by reception of several initial full DTX cycles.

Abstract: The present invention is a receiver (19) for receiving a communication signal divided into a plurality of timeslots, wherein the timeslots include a plurality of channels, including a burst detector (10) for detecting when a selected one of the plurality of channels of the communication is received. The burst detector comprises a noise estimation device for determining a scaled noise power estimate of the selected one of the timeslots, a matched filter for detecting signal power of the selected one of the timeslots and a signal power estimation device, responsive for the matched filter, for generating a signal power estimate of the selected one of the timeslots. A comparator responsive to the scaled noise power estimate the signal power estimate is also included in the burst detector for generating a burst detection signal when the signal power estimate is greater than the scaled noise power estimate, and a data estimation device, responsive to the burst detection signal, for decoding the plurality of channels.

Abstract: A method for multicasting a packet begins by providing a buffer for each of two user equipments (UEs) in communication with a base station. A determination is made whether there is a previously unsent packet at the base station. A second determination is made whether both UE buffers are non-empty. A non-empty buffer is flushed if there is no previously unsent packet and if one of the buffers is non-empty. A packet is selected to be transmitted if there is a previously unsent packet or if both buffers are non-empty. The buffers are updated based on feedback received from the UEs.
