    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission element capable of preventing an increase in electric power consumption, and capable of improving reliability of the element. SOLUTION: In a three-pole type field emission element, the field emission element has a gate electrode 205, an emitter 204, and an anode 207, and is constituted so as to connect a resistance 209 between the gate electrode 205 and an external terminal 206 of this gate electrode. A resistance value of this resistance 209 is set so as to satisfy a condition of being larger by about 10 times or more than a resistance value up to an external terminal 206 of the gate electrode from the gate electrode 205, and smaller in characteristic time than an inverse number of a driving speed. That is, a resistance characteristic of this resistance 209 is set so as to become small such as having no influence on a field emission characteristic in normal operation, and become large such as being capable of controlling a quantity of leakage current generated in a state of electrically connecting a field emission electrode to the other electrode.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for embedding and extracting digital watermarks based on wavelets which is robust to external attacks while being capable of minimizing a degradation in picture quality caused by embedding of the watermarks. SOLUTION: The embedded watermarks embedded in DC component domains of wavelet-transformed domains can be robust to external attacks such as compression in the case of embedding and extracting watermarks for copyright protection. The high-frequency dependency of pixels in a DC component domain determined as a target domain, in which watermarks are to be embedded, is calculated, in order to embed the watermarks in the target domain in the order of pixels having a higher high-frequency dependency.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transmittance of a laser beam passing through an aperture to record/reproduce information by a probe type system and a proximate field system. SOLUTION: The structure of an optical information recording/reproducing head is divided into a lower structure constituted of a silicon substrate 21 to lastly become a head holder, and an upper structure formed in a reverse ladder shape where a probe constituted of a number of apertures 25 filled with a nonlinear substance 28 and a metal thin film 27 is formed, and the end of the probe is connected to the lower structure. The upper structure is constituted of a silicon deposited layer 23. A silicon oxide film 22 is formed on a boundary between the lower and upper structures. A number of probes made of metal thin films 27 are formed on the bottom surface of the upper structure. The nonlinear substance 28 buried in the aperture of a reverse ladder structure firmed in the silicon deposited layer 25 in an etching step is partially exposed through the bottom surface of the silicon deposited layer 23 as the upper structure. Terminal 1st and 2nd decision sections 110, 160 of each terminal 100 decide whether the received acquisition state signal is user information data or re-transmission of the preamble with enhanced power. Thus, a proper power level is quickly approached and an excellent time delay characteristic is obtained.
