Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scalable method and a device capable of creating a two-dimensional image from a plurality of cameras. SOLUTION: An image processing system processes in a real time, a plurality of images which are different views from the same object of video data for matching the characteristic in an image in order to support reproduction of a three-dimensional animation. The different images are captured by the plurality of cameras, and processed by a digital processing device to discriminate the characteristic, and preliminary two-view characteristic matching is executed. Image data and matched characteristic point definition are communicated to an adjacent camera in order to support at least two-image matching. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance durability of a physical interface exposed to the environment of a semiconductor device, e.g. an integrated circuit. SOLUTION: In a touch sensitive semiconductor chip having a physical interface exposed to the environment, the surface of the physical interface is coated with fluorocarbon polymer. The polymer has a high scratch durability and a low permittivity exhibiting a low attenuation for the electric field. The polymer can be employed in place of conventional passivation so that a thin layer of low permittivity can be provided between an object touching the physical interface and a capacitive detection circuit existing beneath the polymer. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit and a method which comparatively rapidly transition a current flowing through a write head during normal operating conditions, without generating capacitively coupled noise. SOLUTION: A drive voltage signal which will not have a common mode voltage level in a transition period among the normal operating conditions in the write head is supplied to the write head. That is, the drive voltage signal impressed to the writing head is substantially and entirely differential during the transition period of a write head current. A driver circuit has the terminal of the write head and a switching circuit, connected between reference voltage supply sources such as positive and negative voltage sources. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enhanced technology for encoding servo data on a data storage disk. SOLUTION: This invention incorporates a 1/4-rate Hard Disk Drive (HDD) servo-data encoding into a Partial Response Maximum Likelihood (PRML) read channel. The data is read back (or sampled) at twice the write frequency. This increases the data redundancy while also increasing the data density and the disk storage capacity. The 1/4 coding can also be applied to conventional HDD dibit coding. Specifically, the 1/4-coding scheme reads each dibit-coded servo data transition 01 as 0011, and reads each non-transition 00 (or 0) as 0000. The 1/4 coding and its matched Viterbi detector can also increase the data detection in comparison to conventional peak-detection schemes.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for detecting a scratch, namely, damage on a wafer at a site during chemical and mechanical polishing. SOLUTION: An acoustic radiation sample with respect to chemical and mechanical polishing processing is gathered and analyzed with the usage of Fourier transform in order to detect the vibration of the wafer showing the scratch, namely, the damage. When an extreme noise level is detected in a frequency or a frequency band of a monitor, the polishing processing is stopped and an alarm is generated with respect to an operator. Such detection in the site minimizes the damage to the wafer at polishing and restricts the damage to a single wafer, not a series of the wafers. Polishing ending point detection can be integrated with a scratch detection mechanism.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique to recharge a rechargeable battery without harmful effects on the battery service life. SOLUTION: If external power supply is available and one or more cells are substantially discharged, one cell is selected at a time in order to completely discharge and recharge the substantially discharged cells. Cells, that are partially discharged but not substantially discharged, are left as they are, until the one cell is substantially discharged by use of an electronic deice. When the one cell has been recharged, the next cell that is substantially discharged is exhausted and recharged, and this operation is repeated until all the fells are completely charged. If the external power supply is removed and the charging of the cells is interrupted, another cell is used to supply power to the electronic device, and when the external power supply is restored, recharging is restarted. Therefore, a device that is maintained by a charger, except when in use, can be used and returned to the charger without harmful effects on the battery service like.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which decides whether a motor, such as a disc drive system multiphase motor, etc., is rotating. SOLUTION: First, electrical characteristics of one phase of a motor is detected. The electrical characteristics are sensed a plurality of turns and the measurement based upon the times corresponding to them is carried out, to decide whether the rotor of the motor is rotating. If it is decided that the rotor is not turning, the rotor is rotated at an operation enabled speed, whereas if it is decided that the rotor is turning, a resynchronization operation is carried out, to synchronize the application of a drive signal with respect to the phase winding of the motor with the dynamic position of the rotor.

SOLUTION: When the flow direction of the current is reversed from the 1st direction in which the current is being supplied to the write head through a write head terminal to the 2nd direction in which the current is drawn out from the write head through the write head terminal, an appropriate pull-up device is activated during the period of specified time. A clamp device being connected to the pull-up device to be temporarily activated is activated after that, thereby the corresponding write head terminal is clamped to the intermediate voltage level at the steady state.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrated circuit, having a silicide where sheet resistance is low and probability of peeling of a film or oxidation of metal is reduced, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The silicide, having variable inner metal concentration which is adjusted to the surface condition in an interface between the silicide and an adjacent layer, is used in an integrated circuit. Higher ratio (silicon rich) of silicon/metal is used in an interface with an adjacent layer, lattice nonconformity in the interface is reduced, and probability of peeling of a film is reduced. A lower ratio of silicon/metal is used in the central region of the silicide, and the specific resistance is reduced.
