Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled dispersant which can stabilize a polymerization system in reverse phase suspension polymerization and consistently give small polymer granules free of fine polymer particles, obtained by copolymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer with a specified monomer. CONSTITUTION:At least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer (A) having a 6C or higher alkyl group and/or an aromatic ring [e.g., 6-36C alkyl (meth) acrylate] is copolymerized with 3-40wt% at least one monomer (B) having at least one amide group in the molecule (e.g., N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) to obtain the titled oil-soluble copolymer of a MW of 3,000-500,000. A 15-80wt% aqueous solution containing a water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer and optionally other water-soluble monomers is (co)polymerized in the presence of 0.1-10wt% above-produced dispersant and a polymerization initiator in at least one solvent selected from among aliphatic hydrocarbons, alicyclic hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons all of which have a b.p. of 30-200 deg.C.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin having specific two kinds of recurring units and having excellent transparency and moldability comparable to PET and exhibiting barrier properties to oxygen and steam superior to PET. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin consisting of 0-95mol% unit expressed by formula I ((m) is 2-10) and 5-100mol% unit expressed by formula II. The resin is preferably obtained by copolymerizing a dicarboxylic component consisting of 0-95mol% terephthalic acid (derivative) and 5-100mol% (2-hydroxy-2- oxoethoxy)benzoic acid (derivative) with a dial component consisting of a 2-1-C straight-chain aliphatic acid glycol. As the glycol, e.g. ethylene glycol or trimethylene glycol is used. Furthermore, in the objective resin, the intrinsic viscosity measured at 25 deg.C in a mixed solution of phenol/tetrachloroethane (of 60/40wt. ratio) is preferably >=0.5g/d.

CONSTITUTION:The objective dispersing agent is composed of an oil-soluble nonionic copolymer produced by copolymerizing (A) an oleophilic monomer consisting of styrene and/or propyl (meth)acrylate and (B) a hydrophilic monomer consisting of a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate (e.g. 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate) at a molar ratio of preferably 70-99.5:30-0.5. When the dispersing agent is used in the production of a polymer, the workability and the productivity of the polymer can be improved and the obtained polymer is free from polymer agglomerate.
