    Abstract: Disclosed is a pedestrian airbag comprising an upper cover which is fixed to the bottom of a hood, which has an internal space for an inflator and a cushion, which accepts the inflator in one internal side and the cushion connected to the inflator; a lower cover which is joined to the bottom of the upper cover to cover and support the inflator with the upper cover and which is completely separated from the upper cover when gas is supplied to the inflator to inflate the cushion; and a connection part of which one end is connected to the lower cover around an area in which the inflator is positioned and of which the other end is connected to the hood to fix the lower cover escaping from the upper cover to the hood when the cushion is inflated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A passenger identification apparatus for a vehicle using AC voltage overlapped with DC voltage is provided to identify passengers by measuring current caused by changes in capacitance between the vehicle body and a seat. CONSTITUTION: A passenger identification apparatus for a vehicle comprises a power supply unit(100), a sensor unit(110), and an integrated control unit(120). The power supply unit outputs AC voltage overlapped with DC voltage. The sensor unit, whose capacitance varies according to the permittivity of a passenger from the AC voltage component between with a vehicle body, is installed inside a seat of the vehicle and generates heat from the DC voltage component. The integrated control unit measures changes in the capacitance of the sensor unit to determine the type and sitting state of a passenger and control the heat generation of the sensor unit.

    Abstract: An apparatus for classifying a vehicle occupant to determine whether to deploy an airbag is disclosed. The classification apparatus includes a sensor which is installed in a seat of a vehicle and is supplied with AC power, the sensor having a sensing conductor and a guard conductor electrically connected to each other, with an insulator interposed therebetween. A controller compares an imaginary current value, attributable to variation in capacitance of the sensor, measured on an output side of the sensor, and a real current value, attributable to variation in resistance of the sensor, with preset threshold values, thus classifying an occupant who is sitting in the seat. According to the classification apparatus, even if moisture permeates into a seat, an occupant can be precisely classified using the real current value and the imaginary current value.

CONSTITUTION: An air bag for a vehicle is composed of a cushion(10) and an outer tether(20). The cushion has a cushion hole(11) for the exhaustion of the gas. The outer tether surrounds the cushion to cover the cushion hole in the spreading process of the cushion. The both ends of the outer tether are fixed to one side of the cushion. First fixing units(22,23) of the outer tether are fixed to the cushion between the both ends. The tether hole formed in one side is overlapped with the cushion hole in the state where the spreading of the cushion is temporarily limited.
