Abstract:
Disclosed is the use of highly functional, highly branched or hyperbranched polycarbonates as a dispersing agent for pigments. Said polycarbonates can be obtained by a) producing one or several different condensation products (K) by a1) reacting at least one organic carbonate (A) of general formula RO[(CO)O] n R with at least one aliphatic, aliphatic/aromatic, or aromatic alcohol (B) comprising at least 3 OH groups while eliminating alcohols ROH, R independently representing a linear or branched aliphatic, aromatic/aliphatic, or aromatic hydrocarbon radical containing 1 to 20 C atoms, and radicals R being optionally interconnected so as to form a ring containing the grouping -O[(CO)O] n -, and n representing an integer ranging from 1 to 5, or a2) reacting phosgene, diphosgene, or triphosgene with the aliphatic, aliphatic/aromatic, or aromatic alcohol (B) while releasing hydrogen chloride, the quantitative ratio between alcohols (B) and the carbonates (A) or the phosgenes in the reaction mixture being selected such that the condensation products (K) on average are provided with one carbonate group or carbamyl chloride group and more than one OH group or one OH group and more than one carbonate group or carbamyl chloride group, and b) intermolecularly reacting the condensation products (K) obtained in step a).
Abstract:
A platelet-shaped cholesteric multilayer pigment which comprises the layer sequence A/B/ and if desired C,whereA and C independently of one another are at least one partly light-permeable absorption layer, andB is at least one cholesteric layer.
Abstract:
An adhesive layer (B) forms the interlayer between similar or different cholesteric layers (A1) and (A2) in a cholesteric laminate material with the layer sequence A1/B/A2. Independent claims are also included for: (i) a process for the production of cholesteric laminate material by: (a) coating a base with a first coating material which is hardened to form layer (A1); (b) coating (A1) with a second material containing heat- and/or pressure-activated adhesive(s) to form a laminate A1/B with adhesive layer (B); (c) coating another base with a third coating material which is hardened to form layer (A2); (d) laminating (A2) with (A1/B) under elevated pressure and/or temperature to form laminate A1/B/A2; (e) stripping off the second base; and optionally (f) stripping off the first base; (ii) a process for the production of multilayer cholesteric flake pigments with the layer sequence A1/B/A2 by milling the above material to a particle size of up to 200 microns; (iii) cholesteric flake pigments obtained by this process; and (iv) compositions and coating materials containing these multilayer pigments.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for carrying out the automated preparation and characterization of liquid multi-constituent systems comprised of at least two, preferably at least three, constituents. The inventive method involves the automated preparation of a mixture by combining at least two, preferably at least three, constituents in a vessel, whereby at least one constituent is dosed into the vessel in an automated manner. The method also involves the automated homogenization of the mixture followed by an automated measuring and evaluation. The device for implementing said method comprises at least one dosing station (5), a closing station (7), a homogenizing station (9), a measuring station (13) for determining formulation properties, and an evaluation unit.
Abstract:
After a test (trial) run of a magnetic disk (2) on a drive (1), in which after initial contact with the disk surface the magnetic head (3) is lifted in accordance with the rising rotational speed of the disk into the flying state and touches the disk again when the latter stops, the magnetic head remains in the touching state for several minutes and is thereafter raised from the disk surface by a force-measuring device (7) by means of a lifting device (8). In this case, the measuring signal of the force measuring device, which is proportional to the tensile force, is transferred onto a data recorder (logger) (11).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel cholesteric layered materials having the layer sequence A /B/A , where A and A are identical or different and each comprise at least one cholesteric layer, and B is at least one interlayer separating the layers A and A from one another, wherein layer B is an adhesive layer; cholesteric multilayered pigments which can be produced therefrom; a process for their production, and their use.
