Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a graft polymer prepared by grafting t-butyl (meth)acrylate and a polymerizable carboxylic acid onto a polyvinyl lactam prepolymer in a specified ratio and partially neutralizing the product and having a specified K value and being useful as, especially, a hair set agent. SOLUTION: This graft copolymer is one prepared by radical-polymerizing (A) 50-85 mass % monomer of formula I and 15-30 mass % vinyl monomer having at least one carboxy group with (B) a prepolymer containing 30-50 mass % incorporation-polymerized monomer of formula III and having a K value of 30-50 and partially neutralizing the product and having a weight ratio of component A/component B of 100/5 to 100/200 and having a K value of 30-70. In the formula, R' and R" are each H or a 1-6C alkyl; X is -O- or formula IV; R is a 6-30C alkyl; and n is 1-3.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare pharmaceutical preparation having no danger of a cytolytic or other toxic side effect and capable of eliminating an technical defect of use of a high viscosity material, etc., and improving permeability through an epithelial cell by including a (meth)acrylic acid-maleic acid copolymer. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical preparation is the one for improving permeability through an epithelial cell and includes a (meth)acrylic acid-maleic acid copolymer e.g. the one composed of (A) 10-90mol% (meth)acrylic acid or its salt or anhydride, (B) 90-10mol% maleic acid or its salt or anhydride and (C) 0-40mol% monomer without components A and B [e.g. vinylsulfonic acid, a (meth)acrylic ester of a 2-6C hydroxyalkyl or a (meth)acrylic acid ester of 1-40C alkyl] and having 5,000-500,000, especially 10,000-300,000 weight average molecular weight}. The preparation is administered in a shape of a tablet, a granule, a suppository, an ointment, a solution, etc., by an oral, hypoglottis, oral cavity, pulmonary artery or pernasal administration, or an administration through ocular-mucous membrance.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic preparation for protecting human skins from solar light by using a partially specific new compound as a UV light filter singly or together with a known light-absorbing compound in a UV light region. SOLUTION: This α-acyl, β-allylacylnitrile of formula I (R to R are each H, a 18C aliphatic or alicyclic group, or two of R to R together form a five or six-membered ring; R , R are each an aromatic or heteroaromatic group having 5-12 atoms in the ring; R may be H) is used as a UV-A filter. A compound of formula II [R to R are each a low mol.wt. alkyl; R is 2-thienyl, 4-(3,5-di-t-butyl)-1-hydroxy, an alkoxyphenyl] among the compounds of formula I is new. The contact of the compound of formula I in a cosmetic preparation is approximately 10-90 pts.wt. based on the whole amount of the UV-B and UV-A absorbing substances. The UV-B filter substance is e.g. 4-aminobenzoic acid, etc.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing polymers which are water-soluble or water-dispersible or which, if they consist of monomers with neutralizable radicals, are water-soluble or water-dispersible in the neutralized form, by radically polymerizing a) ethylenically unsaturated monomers in the presence of b) silicone derivatives containing polyalkyleneoxide.
Abstract:
