    Abstract: Acid chlorides are prepared by reaction of carboxylic acids or anhydrides thereof with phosgene in the presence of a carboxamide of the formula I in which R denotes a radical of the formulae R denotes an alkyl radical having 2 to 9 carbon atoms, R denotes an alkyl radical having 1 to 9 carbon atoms, R and R denote hydrogen atoms or alkyl radicals having 1 to 9 carbon atoms, the two radicals R and R can also represent a hydrocarbon radical which completes the molecule portion to give a heterocycle, it being possible for the alkyl and hydrocarbon radicals mentioned additionally to contain substituents which are inert under the reaction conditions.
