Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the production of cyclopentene-oligomer mixtures of formula (I), characterized in that a hydrocarbon mixture containing acyclic monoolefins from an oil refining cracking process (C5-cut) and cyclopentene are transformed in a homogenous or heterogeneous catalyzed metathesis reaction. The invention also relates to cyclopentene oligomers of formula (I) which can be obtained according to said method, and the use thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing carboxylic acids or their esters from olefins and carbon monoxide in the presence of water or alcohols at temperatures of between 100 and 270 DEG C and pressure of between 30 and 100 bar. Abstract: A method (a) of preparing butyrolactones of formula (I) comprises reacting an alkyne of formula R -C?=C-R (II) with CO and H2 or H2 formed in situ at elevated pressure and temp. in the presence of a transition metal catalyst. R , R = H, (hydroxy)alkyl or trialkylsilyl or aryl gps., opt. with inert substits. Also claimed is a second method (b) of preparing the corresp. 2-(5H)-furanones of formula (III) which comprises reacting (II) with CO and H2 gas in the presence of transition metal catalysts and amine bases at 60-140 deg C and a H2 partial pressure of > 50 bar. (III) may then be hydrogenated to (I) in a separate hydrogenation reaction.
