Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dye useful for dye thermal transfer, dyeing and printing by selecting a specific (aza)methine dye with a 5-membered heterocycle having CF3 group as a central forming block and without a water-soluble group. SOLUTION: A dye represented by the formula: Q -X=Het [wherein X is N or CH; Q is one selected from groups represented by formulas I to V or the like; Het is a divalent group represented by formula VI or VII; n is 0 or 1; Z is H, a 1-13C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, OH or the like; Z is the same as Z or a 1-4C alkoxy; Z and Z are each H, a 1-13C alkyl, 3-4C alkenyl or the like; Z is H or a 1-4C alkyl; Z is H, a halogen, 1-13C alkyl or the like; Z is H, a 1-13C alkyl, phenyl or the like; Y is O, S, (1-4C alkyl)imino, phenylimino or a group of an acidic CH compound; A is N or a group represented by the formula: C-U; U is H, a 1-13C alkyl, halogen, CN or 1-13C alkoxycarbonyl; E is O, S, Se, a (1-4C alkyl)imino or phenylimino] is selected. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymeric ultraviolet absorber which exhibits a high water resistance, a low permeation into human skin, and a low residual monomer content and can be stably mixed and processed with other ingredients of cosmetic preparations by specifying the structures and contents of monomer units of the absorber. SOLUTION: The structural formulas of monomer units, a to d, are represented by formula I [wherein R and R are each H or a 1-8C alkyl; R is, e.g. a group of formula II; R is -(CO)n -R ; R is a 1-28C alkyl; n is 0 or 1; R is a 1-22C alkyl; and R is H or methyl]. The arrangement of monomer units is not limited, and the sum of a to d is 100; a is 5-95; b is 0-70; c is 5-95; and d is 0-70. The polymer is obtd. by the free radical polymn. of monomers for forming units a to d under normal conditions. The monomers are emulsified in water and copolymerized at 30-160 deg.C in the presence of a water-soluble initiator (e.g. azobisisobutyronitrile). The resultant polymer has a mol.wt. of 2,000-50,000 g/mol.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound in a high yield by the reaction of an alkyne with a carbonyl compound and an amine in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst. SOLUTION: This compound, a hydroxyalkyl-substituted aminoalkyne of formula IV [e.g. 3-(di-2-hydroxyethylamino)propyne], is obtained by reaction of an alkyne of formula I (R1 is H, an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, etc.) with a carbonyl compound of formula II (R2 and R3 are each H, an alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, etc..) and an amine of formula III (R4 and R5 are each H, an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, etc., or joined together with a bound N atom to form a five- or six-membered ring) in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst such as an acetylated copper catalyst carried on a bismuth-doped silicate support. By virtue of this method, the objective desired aminoalkyne can be obtained in high yield without the need of any special means for pH adjustment.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a vinylsilane by which a high conversion rate accompanied with a high selectivity can be achieved with an ultrahigh space time yield. SOLUTION: A silane is added to a liquid phase containing an acetylenic hydrocarbon and a catalyst in the method for preparing the vinylsilane comprising reacting the acetylenic hydrocarbon with the silane having at least one silicon-bound hydrogen atom in the presence of a catalyst in the liquid phase. In particular, the reaction is carried out under a superatomic pressure and the spent acetylenic hydrocarbon is replenished during the reaction so as to maintain a pressure which is constant during the entire reaction. As a specific example, acetylene is reacted with trimethoxysilane in the presence of a tetramethyldivinyldisiloxaneplatinum solution in xylene as the catalyst in the xylene liquid phase to produce trimethoxyvinylsilane in high yield.

SOLUTION: An N-hydroxyalkyl substituted aminoalkyne expressed by formula II is manufactured by reacting a mixture of a compound expressed by the formula R -C≡C-H(R is H, an alkyl, etc.) and a compound expressed by formula I (R , R are each H, an alkyl, etc.; A is a 2-5 alkylene) in the presence of a catalyst containing a metal compound of a first subgroup elements under a heterogeneous catalytic system. A suitable catalyst contains a complex of copper acetylide and Bi compound, for example, (BiO)2 CO3 , etc., the preferable catalyst contains about 40-70wt.% of Cu and about 0.1-10% of Bi. The reaction is carried out in a reactor such as a tubular reactor, etc., provided with a stirrer, generally at 0-200 deg.C, preferably at 20-120 deg.C, especially preferably at 40-120 deg.C.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject alkyne diol by allowing a specific compound to react with acetylene in the presence of a basic alkali metal salt as a catalyst in a polar aprotic solvent in need of a trace or catalytic amount of base.
