    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive device, a load/unload device and its control method performing stable speed control and improving reliability in data. SOLUTION: The disk drive device 10 is provided with a VCM(voice coil motor) spindle driver 12 rotation driving a disk 11, a magnetic head 13, an actuator mechanism 14 moving a head slider having the magnetic head 13 over the magnetic disk 11 surface and to a retreat position, a lamp block 15 and a CPU/HDC (hard disk controller) 16 controlling a speed of an actuator, controlling calibration detecting offset and dynamic range of an AD(analog/digital) converter prior to this speed control and controlling operation such as read-out/ write-in, etc., of data for the disk 11. Then, the device 10 increases a rectangular current value applied to a voice coil while successively changing a code, and measures the offset from the value of the AD converter at every current value, and decides it is a nonlinear area when a difference between the expected value and the measured value of the AD converter becomes a prescribed value or above to measure the dynamic range.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor control apparatus by which a spindle motor at its start or the like can reach quickly a high-speed rotation state that data can be accessed by a method in which the driving force of the spindle motor is controlled on the basis of a difference obtained at a time when a new adjustment target frequency is input to a comparator in a frequency lock loop. SOLUTION: A measuring frequency is input to a frequency comparator 12, and its output is given to a charging pump 14. The output of the charging pump 14 is given to a loop filter 16 so as to be waveform-shaped. Its output is given to a motor driving mechanism 18 so as to control a motor driving current as the output of the motor driving mechanism 18. By the controlled driving current, a spindle motor 20 is turned. The rotational speed of the spindle motor 20 is converted into a frequency by a V/F converter 22 so as to be input to the frequency converter 12 as the measuring frequency. The difference between the measuring frequency obtained from the rotational speed of a motor and a final target frequency is input to a digital filter 30.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of an accidental unloading. SOLUTION: The head slider having a converter head is mounted on a head arm. If the arm is rotated, the slider is unloaded from a disk. The retracting position is located at the boundary section within the rotating range of the arm. If the slider is normally unloaded to the retracting position, the arm does not move even though a driving force is applied to the head arm in an unloading direction. Then, an unloading is executed in a step S2, a position confirmation driving force is applied to the arm in the unloading direction, the moving speed of the slider is detected in a step S4 and discrimination is made in a step 5 to determine whether the slider is unloaded to the retracting position or not based on the movement speed. If the slider is not unloaded at the retracting position, a re-unloading is executed in a step S7 to move the slider back to the retracting position.

SOLUTION: A disk drive device 10 is provided with a VCM spindle driver 12 for rotary-driving a disk 11, an actuator mechanism 14 for moving a head slider having a magnetic head 13 above the surface of a magnet disk 11 and to a retreating position, a lamp block 15 and a CPU/HDC 16 for controlling operations including loading/unloading control, control for the speed of the actuator or data reading/writing in the disk 11. Before performing speed control for loading the actuator on a recording medium, a proper rectangular current wave is first applied so as to release the actuator from its static state by an open loop, then the movement of the actuator caused by the application of the rectangular current wave is immediately measured, whether a proper initial speed is obtained or not is determined and, when a proper initial speed is not obtained, a rectangular current wave is applied again and then the initial condition of speed control is decided based on the measuring result.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent servo information from being reproduced of error and to form correct servo information, by providing a plurality of bit patterns which are not prevent principally in other servo areas than a servo start mark SSM. SOLUTION: A cylindrical support 16 is set to a shaft 12, with having one or more data-recording discs 18A, 18B loaded at an outer peripheral face thereof. A data area 52 is formed in each recording face of the discs 18A, 18B. Servo areas 50 are radially formed in the data area. A start position of the servo area is indicated by a servo start mark SSM. A plurality of bit patterns in the signal SSM are constituted so as not to be read in other servo areas, i.e., a gray code area, a sector area and a position error signal PES area. Therefore, the SSM signal is never read out in the other servo areas, and reading errors and prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To rotate a magnetic disk with low-cost optimum characteristics by mounting one or two magnetic disks, specifying the motors for rotatably driving the disks from one and two periods of the start, and controlling the negative feedback coefficient responsive to the number. CONSTITUTION: A hard disk drive 10 can selectively coaxially mount one or two magnetic disks 18 in the hub 22 of a spindle motor 20, and applies a voltage to rotate the motor 20. The first period t1 and next period t2 at the time of starting the motor 20 are measured and stored, and time constant Tm is obtained based on period t1 and next period t2 and the time constant Tm according to a predetermined formula. Then, one or two of the disks 18 are specified according to whether the constant Tm is smaller than the preset time constant Tms or not, and the rotation of the motor 20 is controlled by a card 34 by using optimum feedback coefficient k1 /k2 . Thus, it can be realized simply with low cost by the optimum starting time, high rotating accuracy, power conservation and reduction in size.
