Abstract: PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain the subject protein for treatment, etc., of von Wilebrand disease which is a congenital hemorrhagic disease in large amounts by culturing a vascular endothelial cell attached onto a microcarrier while adding shearing stress in a specific range. CONSTITUTION: This von Wilebrand factor useful for treatment, etc., of von Wilebrand disease which is a congenital hemorrhagic disease is efficiently obtained by culturing a vascular endothelial cell separated by from human umbilical vein an oxygen perfusion method in a cultured medium to which cultured supernatant of a human normal diploid fibroblast and fetal calf serum are added in a flask coated with collagen, and putting the culture into a spinner culturing bottle containing a microcarrier such as gelatin beads, inoculating a vascular endothelial cell thereinto, setting the number of rotation of stirring to 50-600rpm at 37 deg.C and culturing the cell for 8 days while applying shearing stress within a range of 20-130dyne/cm . Thereby, mass production of the von Wilebrand factor by the cultured cell which has been difficult hitherto is made possible.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the intrusion of contminants into a polymn. chamber and to produce a polymer having excellent light transmission performance stably on an industrial scale over a long period of time by introducing an inert gas into the chamber from an inflow port and passing the gas through the chamber and labyrinth section. CONSTITUTION:A mechanical seal 3 for shaft sealing of stirring vanes is provided to the upper part of a vapor phase section 2 and the stirring vanes are installed with the mechanical seal 3 as a fulcrum in the polymn. chamber. The inert gas selected from any one kind of nitrogen, argon, ammonia, carbon dioxide, and oxygen is admitted between the mechanical seal 3 and the polymn. chamber vapor phase section 2. The inert gas flowing down from the inert gas inflow port 4 to the vapor phase section 2 is held at 1cm/sec to 1m/sec linear velocity in the labyrinth section 6 and is discharged to the outside of the polymn. chamber by an inert gas discharge port 7. The shaft sealing function of the stirring vanes is stably maintained over a long period of time in this way and the polymer having high transparency is obtd. while prohibiting the intrusion of the external contaminants and the disturbance or reaction.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polysulfone polymer excellent in processibility by bonding cyclic peptide residues having amino groups as functional side chains to an arom. polysulfone main chain. SOLUTION: This polymer comprises an arom. polysulfone main chain and cyclic peptide (e.g. polymyxin B or gramicidin S) residues having amino groups represented by the formula as functional side chains bonded in a number of 0.001-0.5 per repeating unit of the main chain and is obtd. by mixing and reacting a soln. of a polymer comprising an arom. polysulfone main chain and active halogen-contg. substitutents introduced thereinto as functional side chains with a soln. of a cyclic peptide compd. having amino groups. The arom. polysulfone has a mol.wt. of 5,000-1,000,000, and a poly(p-phenylene ether sulfone) represented by formula II is an example thereof. In the formulas, (m) and (n) are each an integer of 0-20; A is O, S, a urea group, an amido group, or the like; and Y is a cyclic peptide residue having amino groups.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessary of lowering the temperature of an end face forming plate so as to reduce the processing time of end face formation of a plastic optical fiber by adopting radiation heating using far infrared rays so that only the optical fiber can be heated. CONSTITUTION:A heating body 1 of a far infrared ray radiating body and an end face forming plate 3 made of a substance having a good far infrared ray transmittance are provided. Since the far infrared rays radiated from the heating body 1 are mainly absorbed by a plastic optical fiber 5, the end face of the optical fiber 5 is directly heated and deformed. On the other hand, the plate 3 is not heated so much because of its good far infrared ray transmittance and its temperature rise is suppressed to lower than the thermo-deforming temperature of the optical fiber 5. Since the end face of the optical fiber 5 deforms while the fiber 5 is pressed against the plate 3, whose temperature is lower than that of the end face, the optical fiber 5 can be brought to the next process without lowering the temperature of the plate 3 after processing. Thus the processing time can be made shorter.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide anti-thrombus medical material to which coating can be easily applied, and which has an anti-thrombus property for a long period by forming it by ionic bond of copolymer comprising hydrophobic polymer of a specified polymerization degree and hydrophilic monomer with heparin or its salt. CONSTITUTION: With copolymer of hydrophobic polymer of a polymerization degree of 580 or less, that is vinyl chloride, for example, and hydrophilic monomer, that is vinyl compound, for example, heparin or its salt is ion-bonded to provide anti-thrombus medical material. Though the mode of the copolymer is not specially limited, graft polymerization is the most favorable for the purpose of achieving excellent anti-thrombus effect as the medical material. There is no special limit to the heparin or salt, but normally, heparin sodium, benzal conium heparin, etc., are used. Heparin thickness is set to be about 0.5wt.% or more, and the copolymer is immersed in it at about 50-80 deg.C for about several hours to 5 days to form heparin.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject column capable of performing extracorporeal circulation of blood and improving enteritis by using a polymyxin immobilized carrier. SOLUTION: This column for enteritis is obtained by using a polymyxin immobilized carrier. Preferably, the carrier is a fibrous carrier and its component is a polymer such as a (crosslinked) polystyrene fiber or an acrylic acid.acrylonitrile copolymer fiber and preferably is a sea-island fiber reinforced with the island component. Preferably, a surface area of the carrier is 0.1-100 m2/g. An amount of an immobilized antibiotic substance, polymyxin is pref. >=1 mg/g carrier, further pref. 6-20 mg/g carrier. The column is obtained by mixing the carrier with the polymyxin, and further adding a peptide condensing agent, or the like. By the process, sufficient treatment of inflammable intestinal diseases such as colitis ulcerosa or Crohn's disease can be expected.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of lowering the temperature of a heating body so as to reduce the processing time of end face formation of an optical fiber by additionally providing a mold releasing plate. CONSTITUTION:The lower surface of a mold releasing plate 3, against the upper surface of which the end face of an optical fiber 1 is pressed, is pressed against the surface 8 of a heating body 6 which is previously heated to the thermoforming temperature of plastic optical fibers. The end face of the optical fiber 1 is deformed by the heat of the heating body 6 transmitted through the mold releasing plate 3 and, at the same time, the plate 3 moves in the axial direction of a cylindrical body 4 because of the force of a spring 4. When the extruding quantity of the optical fiber 1 from the bottom of the cylindrical body 2 becomes zero, the upper surface of the releasing plate 3 is brought into contact with the bottom of the cylindrical body 2. Therefore, the end face of the optical fiber can be formed easily and quickly without lowering its optical characteristic.
