Abstract: PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a derivative single crystal of high quality by dissolving a specific benzoxazine derivative in an organic solvent in a dissolution tank and circulating the solution between the dissolution tank and a crystal growth tank in a prescribed environment, while regulating the solution temperature and the circulation rate. CONSTITUTION: 3,9-Dinitro-5a,6,11a,12-tetrahydro[1,4]benzoxazino[3,2- b]benzoxazine (abbreviated to DNBB hereinafter) is dissolved in an organic solvent in the dissolution tank. This DNBB solution is circulated between this dissolution tank and the growing tank in which DNBB is precipitated and grown as a single crystal in such environment where the deteriorated components in the solution are removed to continuously precipitate the solute, DNBB. At this time, the single crystal of DNBB is grown so that the temperature of the solution in the dissolution tank T1 and that of the solution in the crystal-growing tank T2 may satisfy the formula II [S(T) is the solubility of DNBB (in wt.%), when the solution temperature is T] and the circulation rate of the DNBB solution is regulated down to lower than 50ml/min between both of the tanks.
