Abstract:
This disclosure concerns a wireless communication system adapted to establish a feedback protocol between a handheld remote control and at least an adjustable bed controller, the handheld remote control having a memory position user interface adapted to initiate a transmission of a position recall command from the handheld remote control to an adjustable bed controller using the feedback protocol to adjust a position of a bed segment to a preset position from within a predetermined range of acceptable positions stored in memory. The adjustable bed controller is adapted to initiate a communication from the adjustable bed controller to the handheld remote to indicate that the adjustable bed controller has responded to the position recall command.
Abstract:
A patient position apparatus includes a plurality of sensing conductors and a control module operatively coupled to the sensing conductors. The sensing conductors are arranged along a substantially planar surface. The sensing conductors provide sensing information in response to a patient being within proximity of the sensing conductors. The control module selectively adjusts fluid pressure of at least one inflatable cell in response to the sensing information.
Abstract:
An adjustable bed frame assembly includes a center frame comprising two substantially parallel side frame members connected by two substantially parallel connector frame members, a forward connector frame member and a rear connector frame member, wherein the two connector frame members are located within approximately a center one-third of the length of the side frame members. The adjustable bed frame assembly also includes a base frame that includes a plurality of legs for mounting on a floor is rigidly affixed to the center frame such that the center frame does not move with respect to the base frame. The adjustable bed frame assembly further includes a head frame that comprises two substantially parallel side frame members connected by at least one connector frame member, wherein two lower ends of the head frame's parallel side frame members are pivotally attached to the forward connector frame member of the center frame; in addition, a downwardly facing extension frame member is attached to the head frame's connector frame. The adjustable bed frame assembly also includes an actuator for raising and lowering the head frame, wherein one end of the actuator is pivotally connected to the head frame's extension frame member and an opposing end of the actuator is connected to the center frame's rear connector frame member. The adjustable bed frame assembly also includes a mattress platform affixed to a top side of the head frame to provide support to a head portion of a mattress.
Abstract:
A system and method for reducing or preventing stasis-induced ischemia reperfusion injury to a tissue. The system and method may vary a pressure exerted on a tissue to generate a physiological response in the tissue. The physiological response may include the production of an antioxidant. The system and method may introduce a pharmacological agent to increase blood flow to the tissue.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an inflatable device comprising an electromechanical device and a self-sealing valve, and in particular, to any inflatable device that includes the assembly. In some embodiments, at least a portion of a fluid controller is coupled to and supported by an inflatable bladder of an inflatable device. The fluid controller may be located in a compartment, and the compartment may be within the profile of the bladder. The inflatable device may be a single bladder mattress or a dual bladder mattress. The inflatable device may include a heater or an articulation device. The inflatable device may be multi-positional lo device or have a storage compartment. The inflatable device may be configurable using one or more members such as a membrane or fasteners.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an adjustable bed handheld remote control that may include a handheld housing, a touch sensor on a front face of the handheld housing, a transmitter and the like. The touch sensor may be presented in a slider form and may be adapted to facilitate a user in adjusting a frame position of an adjustable bed. The transmitter may be electrically coupled to a processor and may receive input from the touch sensor, for communication control signals to the adjustable bed in accordance with the input received from the touch sensor.
Abstract:
A control unit for a medical device wherein the control unit comprises a pump, a conduit and control means for controlling the flow of fluid from the pump through the conduit; and wherein the conduit is a rigid internal passage located in the control unit.
Abstract:
A massage apparatus system for providing an automatic simulated sexual action is disclosed. The massage apparatus system includes an inflatable mattress defining a distal portion and a proximal portion with the distal portion defining a recess and an inflatable housing having a massage apparatus disposed therein which includes an output shaft engaged to a prosthetic member. Operation of the massage apparatus causes the prosthetic member to move in a reciprocating manner such that a simulated sexual action is produced by the prosthetic member.
Abstract:
The apparatus includes an elastic layer for supporting a person. A plurality of rows of expandable and retractable tubes are embedded in the elastic layer. A source of compressed air and a control system are provided for sequentially injecting and releasing air into and from a first set of alternate tubes and then into and from a second set of alternate tubes for imparting continuous motion to the elastic layer.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for continuous passive motion back support for a person comprising a fluid-inflatable bag disposed between a static structure and the back of a person, the fluid-inflatable bag including a back-engaging surface cyclically moveable to increase and decrease the distance between the static structure and the back-engaging surface thereby to cycle the lower back through a substantial range of lordosis, a conduit adapted to conduct the fluid between the reservoir or the atmosphere and the fluid-inflatable bag, and programmable circuitry for adjusting a voltage supplied to an electrically-powered pump, whereby fluid flow in the conduit is effected by adjustably operating the electrically-powered pump. Various multiple bag embodiments are disclosed. Also disclosed is an apparatus and method for providing a baseline support pressure during continuous passive motion for the lower back of a person.
