Abstract:
A detector device for mixing ratio for gasoline and alcohol include an optically permeable column, one end of which is coated with a light-reflective layer. The circumferential surface of the column is at least partly immersed in mixing liquid of gasoline and alcohol. The light beams enter the column to be incident on said circumferential surface of the column and reflect from the circumferential surface to be incident on said light reflective-layer to reflect therefrom. The reflected light beams impinge on a photo diode which outputs in accordance with the intensity of the light beams impinged. The diametrical and lengthwise dimension of the column being determined such as to provide incidence angles of the reflected light beams changing from a minimum angle corresponding to the critical angle when the mixing liquid ratio is at the lower limit of the predetermined range to a maximum angle corresponding to the critical angle when the mixing liquid ratio is at the upper limit of the predetermined range.

The ambient temperature in the region of the radiation detector (5) is monitored (6) and the first and/or second sets of signals are modified in dependence on the ambient temperature when the first and second set of signals are produced.
Abstract:
A system for rapid-scan spectral analysis comprising a concave holographic diffraction grating continuously rotated at a substantially constant angular velocity to provide a rapid scanning monochromator (a monochromator is used to transfer nominal regions of wavelengths out of the continuous light source). The unique sampling circuitry uses an optical shaft encoder. The angular velocity and angular acceleration of the grating are calculated from time measurements, just before the first wavelength of interest falls on the detector. This information is used to control the Analog to Digital converter sampling rate across the region of interest. The samples as a function of time are stored in a memory buffer so that each data point corresponds to a wavelength.

Abstract:
A multi-wavelength time-sharing apparatus usable in various different configurations of optical measuring equipment to provide a plurality of time-shared optical channels and including appropriate circuitry. The apparatus employs a turbine-driven filter wheel having a shaft position-encoding arrangement consisting of a hollow shaft portion which is internally illuminated. The hollow shaft portion has two sets of spaced apertures cyclically communicating with respective angularly spaced pairs of externally fixedly mounted phototransistors which are sequentially illuminated as the shaft portion rotates and which produce timing pulses which drive Schmitt triggers, which, in a typical embodiment, in turn produce pulses compatible with a logic circuit employed to decode the phototransistor signals into triggers for driving a 4-channel switched gain equalizer, a dark current clamp, and detector gates. Appropriate selection of the signals enables the instrument to function as a fluorometer or a spectrophotometer.
Abstract:
A method of monitoring messages from a sensor using an integrated circuit is provided, wherein the messages include data measured by that sensor. The method includes reading a first message from interconnect circuitry of the integrated circuit, the interconnect circuitry connecting the sensor to one or more core devices configured to process the message. The method further includes calculating a first hash value for the first message and comparing the first hash value to one or more prior hash values stored in a hash store, wherein each prior hash value corresponds to a message that was read from the interconnect circuitry prior to the first message. The method further includes performing a corrective action when the difference between the first hash value and at least one of the prior hash values stored in the hash store is above a predetermined threshold.
