Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle interior material comprising coating layers formed on both surfaces of a veneer layer; a back layer on the coating layer of one surface of the veneer layer; and a front layer on the coating layer of the other surface of the veneer layer. Provided is a method of manufacturing a vehicle interior material comprising steps of: providing a veneer layer; forming coating layers on both surfaces of the veneer layer by applying and drying water-dispersible polyurethane dispersion or water-dispersible acrylic polyurethane dispersion on the both surfaces; pre-forming a real wood film layer prepared by forming the coating layers on the both surfaces of the veneer layer; forming a back layer on the coating layer of one surface of the veneer layer by primary insert molding; and forming a front layer on the coating layer of the other surface of the veneer layer by secondary insert molding.
Abstract:
A process is provided for treating wood products including lumber, plywood and other engineered wood products comprising the steps of applying an aqueous fire-retardant impregnate and applying a coating to the surface of the wood product. In one embodiment, said process confers fire-retardant properties to the wood products sufficient to pass the extended burn test of ASTM E-84. The present invention also provides fire retardant wood products.

These compositions exhibit enhanced paintability (including paintability with water-based paints) and mechanical properties for fabrication (cutting, nailing, routing, etc.), while maintaining acceptable visual appearance, such as, for example, opacity, gloss, surface appearance, and surface roughness.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an article whose surface has been at least partly sealed and to methods of its sealing, the sealing layer comprising a reactive melt layer and a coating layer. The invention provides a method of sealing at least part of the surface of an article, comprising the steps of: (a) applying a reactive melt layer based on polyurethane to at least one part of the surface of the article; (b) smoothing the reactive melt layer; and (c) applying a coating material to form a coating layer on the reactive melt layer, the coating layer being applied before the full curing of the reactive melt layer.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a core for a composite material sandwich panel, the method comprising the steps of: providing a sheet of balsawood with opposite major surfaces, with vessels and axial parenchyma cells of the balsawood extending between the opposite major surfaces in a thickness direction of the sheet; coating a layer of a curable resin composition onto respective opposite major surfaces of the sheet of balsawood; and curing the curable resin composition, wherein the resin composition is applied and cured so that the coating layer of cured resin composition unevenly fills or only partly fills outermost ends of at least some of the vessels in the balsawood and thereby provides, at least in the vicinity of at least some of the vessels, a non-planar outer surface of the coating layer of the cured resin composition over the opposite major surfaces.
Abstract:
A method of treating wood including providing wood having an outer layer, the outer layer including an acetylated wood cell wall; and applying a supercritical fluid mixture to the outer layer to form a treated wood, in which the supercritical fluid mixture includes a silicate precursor dissolved in a supercritical fluid, and in which the silicate precursor is attached to the acetylated wood cell wall in the treated wood is described. A glass fortified wood composition having: an acetylated wood cell wall; and a silicate precursor including a long chain alkyl group, in which the long chain alkyl group of the silicate precursor is embedded into the acetylated wood cell wall. A kit for treating wood is described including a silicate precursor; a supercritical fluid; and a catalyst capable of facilitating the formation of Si—O—Si linkages. The silicate precursor may be dissolved in the supercritical fluid.
Abstract:
Methods of treating wood including modifying a cell wall of the wood to be positively charged to form a cationic wood cell wall; and contacting a negatively charged silicon layer to the cationic wood cell wall to form a barrier, wherein the negatively charged silicon layer includes a silicate ester group, a silinol group, a silicon oxide group or a combination thereof are described. Treated wood compositions including a wood structure having an outer layer including a wood cell having a cell wall attached to a silicon layer which includes a silicate ester group, a silinol group, a silicon oxide group or a combination thereof are also described.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for printing a wood material board, in particular a wood fiber material board, by means of a digital printing process. The method includes the steps of (a) printing at least one side of a wood material board by means of digital printing technology, forming a decorative layer; (b) applying a protective layer containing at least one resin, at least one radiation-curable varnish and/or at least one polyurethane to the decorative layer of the wood material board; and (c) pre-drying and/or pre-gelling the protective layer applied to the decorative layer of the wood material board.
Abstract:
A method for creating a wood like appearance on a synthetic component using a sales client device, a network, computer instructions for creating a work order, a tray with scannable tray identifier to hold a synthetic component, a production client device connected to the network with computer instructions for applying a base coat, a glaze, and a top coat with spray treatment devices to the synthetic component as it automatically moves on a conveyer system a portion of which is connected to the production client device. Scanning a scannable tray identifier with a plurality of sensors to link the tray identifier to the work order and to authenticate and validate the location of the tray on the conveyor system, or to initiate an alerting device. The method uses temperature control environments to simultaneously control humidity and heating of the synthetic component while spraying, drying and UV curing.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of working the surface of an edge or pattern on a work piece made, at least partly, of a wooden material. The method comprising a primary production step of processing the work piece by shaping said edge or pattern on the work piece. The primary production step further comprises applying a coating of phenylpropanoid polymer to said shaped edge or pattern, said coating being a surplus to any phenylpropanoid polymer present in the wooden material before applying the coating, and heating and mechanically working said edge or pattern, resulting in respectively the coating of phenylpropanoid polymer hardening during polymerization and a finished surface of said edge or pattern on the work piece.
