    Abstract: A display element mounting arrangement provides a pair of display holders for frictionally-engaging and supporting an elongated display element at its opposite ends. The display holders are adapted to be mounted on and frictionally secured to a support member, such as a circuit board. Each display holder includes a display-engaging portion and a support member-engaging portion. The display-engaging portion includes four walls which define a chamber into which an end of the display is inserted. Friction tabs in the chamber aid in retainedly engaging the display. The support member-engaging portion includes a leg adapted to extend through and move in a slot which extends inward from an edge of the circuit board. A foot formed on the end of the leg is so spaced from the display-engaging portion as to provide frictional engagement between it and the circuit board.

    Abstract: A control instrument which is mounted in a recess on a printed wiring board is disclosed. The control instrument includes terminals, provided at a bottom surface and offset from a central plane, which engage pattern portions formed at a bottom section of the recess. A resilient member is provided over a top portion the control instrument. Leg members of the resilient member extend over opposite side walls the control instrument. The leg members project outward at a central portion and have apertures formed therein. The control instrument can also have longitudinal grooves over which the leg members extend.

    Abstract: There is disclosed an electronic assembly for use in calculators, watches and so forth. The assembly includes an integrated circuit element having a plurality of positioning apertures at the periphery thereof and a circuit board (preferably, a flexible circuit film) having a plurality of terminals to be electrically connected to the respective terminals of the integrated circuit element and also having a plurality of positioning apertures. The assembly further includes an upper casing and a lower casing one of which has a plurality of positioning projections to be received within the positioning apertures in the circuit element and a plurality of positioning projections to be received within the positioning apertures in the circuit board, for determining relative position of the integrated circuit element and the circuit board with respect to the casing. Preferably, the integrated circuit element has a plurality of signal terminals extending from one side and one or more power terminals extending from a second side thereof and in a direction different from that of the signal terminals, with the latter in direct contact with battery terminals when the assembly is completed. The package of the integrated circuit element may be of a polygonal configuration including a pentagon or more and the whole of the integrated circuit element including the power terminals shaped substantially into a rectangle.

    Abstract: Circuit module (10) having a row of connector pins (21) and being approximately 4 mm. thick or less, and including an electrical circuit (22) connected to the connector pins (21). In prior art designs, it has not been possible to utilize a large substrate having good heat dissipation properties and, at the same time, include an attached electrical device, without exceeding the allowed maximum dimensions of the module. The present invention solves the problem by recessing an edge (17) of the substrate (11), depositing spaced-apart conductor films (26a and 26b) in the recess (16) that electrically connect with the electrical circuit (22), and soldering (31a and and 31b) the electrical device (30) to the conductor films (26a and 26b). Principal uses for the invention include digital computers and similar complex electronic devices.

    Abstract: A shunt resistor module, which includes a shunt resistor having a resistor unit having a predetermined resistance, plate-shaped terminal units respectively configured to extend at both sides of the resistor unit, and a voltage measurement lead pin configured to protrude perpendicular to the terminal unit and having an end portion bent to be parallel to the terminal unit, and a PCB substrate having an assembly guide portion formed to be cut inward by a predetermined depth from an outermost side thereof. The voltage measurement lead pin is fit into the assembly guide portion so that the resistor unit and the terminal unit are placed on a front surface of the PCB substrate and the end portion of the voltage measurement lead pin is caught at a rear surface of the PCB substrate.
