Abstract: An optical device for sensing a presence of an analyte in a person is provided. The optical device includes a light source, an optical stack, and a reader. The light source emits a first light having a first wavelength. The optical stack is placed on a skin of the person. The optical stack includes a sensor material and an optical filter. The sensor material emits a second light having a second wavelength when irradiated with the first light. An optical property of the second light is sensitive to the presence of the analyte. The optical filter is disposed on the sensor material and includes a plurality of microlayers numbering at least 10 in total. The optical filter has different first and second transmittances at the respective first and second wavelengths.

Abstract: A display system for sensing a user body portion, including a display panel configured to form an image for viewing by the user, an optical reflector having a plurality of polymeric layers, and at least one optical sensor for sensing a visible light having at least one visible wavelength and an infrared light having at least one infrared wavelength. The optical sensor senses the visible and infrared lights after the visible and infrared lights are transmitted by the optical reflector. The optical reflector has an average optical reflectance greater than 80% in the visible wavelength range, an optical transmittance greater than about 50% at the infrared wavelength, an optical transmittance of greater than about 2% and less than about 10% at the visible wavelength, and an optical transmittance versus wavelength with a bandpass segment having a full width at half maximum that includes the visible wavelength.

Abstract: Processing tapes for use in preparing optical articles include a thermally stable tape backing and a low tack adhesive layer at least partially coated on tape backing. Abstract: A backlight that includes a front reflector and a back reflector that form a hollow light recycling cavity including an output surface is disclosed. The backlight further includes one or more light sources disposed to emit light into the light recycling cavity. The front reflector includes an on-axis average reflectivity of at least 90% for visible light polarized in a first plane, and an on-axis average reflectivity of at least 25% but less than 90% for visible light polarized in a second plane perpendicular to the first plane.

Abstract: A multilayer optical film includes a plurality of alternating polymeric first and second layers and optically absorptive material dispersed in at least one layer of the multilayer optical film. The multilayer optical film has an average optical transmittance in a visible wavelength range extending from about 450 nm to about 650 nm of about 0.5% to about 40%, an average optical reflectance in the visible wavelength range of less than about 40%, and an average optical reflectance in an infrared wavelength range extending from about 850 nm to about 1200 nm of greater than about 60%. For illuminant D65 light incident on the multilayer optical film, the multilayer optical film reflects and transmits portions of the incident light as reflected and transmitted lights that have color shifts below specified limits in a CIE L*a*b* color space. A glass laminate includes the multilayer optical film disposed between glass layers.

Abstract: A multilayer optical film includes a plurality of polymeric layers arranged sequentially adjacent to each other. A difference in thickness between spaced apart first and second polymeric layers in the plurality of polymeric layers is less than about 10%. Each polymeric layer that is disposed between the first and second polymeric layers has a thickness less than about 400 nm. Each layer in a group of at least three polymeric layers in the plurality of polymeric layers that are disposed between the first and second polymeric layers has a thickness greater than an average thickness of the first and second polymeric layers by about 20% to about 500%. Abstract: An optical filter including a polarizer and a visible light blocking filter is described. The polarizer is configured to transmit at least 60 percent of light in a first infrared wavelength range that is incident on the polarizer at normal incidence in a first polarization state, to transmit less than 30 percent of light in a second infrared wavelength that is incident on the polarizer at normal incidence in a second polarization state orthogonal to the first polarization state, and to transmit less than 30 percent of light in a third infrared wavelength range that is incident on the polarizer with a 50 degree angle of incidence in the second polarization state. The visible light blocking filter configured to transmit at least 60 percent of light in the first infrared wavelength range at normal incidence in the first polarization state.
