Abstract: A conduit treatment system for uniformly apply coatings or treatments to the inner walls of conduits without excessive build-up or creation of blockages. The conduit treatment system generally includes a tube having an absorbent first layer and a non-absorbent second layer. When not inverted, the first layer is the interior of the tube and the second layer is the exterior of the tube. The first layer will be adapted to absorb a treatment which is to be applied within a conduit. By securing a tether between an inversion unit and a closed-off end of the tube, the tube may be wound onto the inversion unit's shaft. The first end of the tube may then be anchored to the inversion unit's connector head to allow for inversion of the tube within a conduit. Upon inversion, the first layer will apply its absorbed treatment to the inner walls of the conduit.

Abstract: An apparatus and process are provided for forming a tubular article. A tube holder is mounted to a support stand via an automatic alignment device. A tubular metal sleeve is placed in the tube holder. A coating material is provided. A bullet-shaped or spherical element is passed through the metal sleeve such that the element runs along an inner circumferential surface of the metal sleeve. The automatic alignment device allows the metal sleeve and the tube holder to level themselves such that the element is substantially aligned with the metal sleeve as the element moves through the metal sleeve. The element spreads the coating material generally evenly along the inner circumferential surface of the metal sleeve as the element passes through the metal sleeve.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for spraying powder into the interior of welded hollow can bodies from a spray gun mounted to the welding arm of a can forming machine. The spray gun can either apply a stripe of highly charged powder on the welded seam areas of hollow can bodies, or can simultaneously apply a coating of powder having a first thickness on the longitudinally welded seam areas and a second thickness less than the first thickness on the remainder of the interior surface. Air is vented off from the powder flow being transported through the welding arm so that the powder to air ratio is increased. Air is introduced at the downstream end of the welding arm to provide a suction force to help draw the powder flow through the welding arm and to increase the velocity of the powder flow for better tribo charging of the powder in the gun and to improve spray pattern stability. A flow of cleaning air through the powder spray gun prevents powder from collecting on the front surface of an offset nozzle secured to the spray gun. The gun assembly is affectively grounded to prevent arcing, and has an exterior shape which has been geometrically configured to improve powder coating of the can. A collector hood surrounds an input conveyor on which cans are transported while being spray coated and an output conveyor which removes the cans at a higher speed than at which they traveled on the input conveyor. The collector hood has two operating conditions for collecting oversprayed powder from between the cans during the spraying operation or directly from the gun when the cans are not being sent down the line.

Abstract: There is provided a method of lining an existing underground main pipe involving a branch pipe. The method comprises injecting a necessary amount of resin into the branch pipe from an open end thereof, introducing behind the resin a pig apparatus into the branch pipe, applying a positive pressure behind the resin and pig apparatus in the branch pipe to cause the resin and pig apparatus to move forward until the entire internal surface of the branch pipe is lined with the resin by means of the pig apparatus and until the pig apparatus reaches and slightly passes beyond a branching position where the branch pipe is branching from the main pipe, applying a negative pressure behind the pig apparatus in the branch pipe to cause the pig apparatus to stop at the branching position such that the branch pipe is completely isolated from the main pipe, injecting a necessary amount of resin into the main pipe from an open end thereof, inserting behind the resin a lining pig into the main pipe, applying a positive pressure behind the resin and lining pig in the main pipe to cause the resin and lining pig to move through the main pipe along the entire length thereof, so as to form a resin lining layer on the internal surface of the main pipe.

Abstract: An apparatus for coating the internal surfaces of pipes comprises two pigs which engage against the internal pipe surfaces and are movable through the pipe, and which define an intermediate zone therebetween for receiving the coating material. A spraying device capable of spraying material in the radial direction is connected to the intermediate zone via a material feed line. Upon being drawn through the pipe, the coating material is fed to the spraying device which atomizes the material and conveys it to the internal surfaces of the pipe.

Abstract: In a method for coating a surface with a layer the surface is first subjected to vacuum in a vacuum zone (V) sealed against the surface, whereupon liquid for forming the layer is supplied to the surface in a sealed pressure zone (P) following the vacuum zone. The supplied liquid is then spread out in a controlled manner, preferably by the sealing (13) terminating the pressure zone. FIG. 1.
