Abstract:
A lasing wavelength of a laser diode is determined by applying a forward current to the p-n junction of the laser diode and measuring a voltage across the p-n junction. The lasing wavelength can be determined by performing a simple wavelength calibration of the laser diode. This allows one to stabilize the lasing wavelength, and also to use the laser diode as a reference wavelength source.
Abstract:
A method of normalizing an analyzer response value of a fluorescence analyzer is provided. The method includes measuring an excitation spectrum of the analyzer and measuring an emission sensitivity spectrum of the analyzer. Next, a normalization factor based at least in part upon the excitation spectrum of the analyzer and the emission sensitivity spectrum of the analyzer is determined. The sample is then analyzed to obtain an uncorrected analyzer response value. A normalized analyzer response value is calculated based at least in part upon the uncorrected analyzer response value and the normalization factor.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides for a method for analyzing treated fingerprints on a document. A sample document is provided. A digital image of the sample document is obtained. The sample document is treated with a reagent and a hyperspectral image of the document is obtained. The hyperspectral image of the document is analyzed to determine a region of interest and a hyperspectal image is obtained of the region of interest. The present disclosure also provides for a system comprising a carrier frame, an imaging station for obtaining a digital image of the sample document, a first processing station for treating the document and a second processing station for developing the treated document, a second imaging station for obtaining a hyperspectral image of at least one of the document and a region of interest of the document, and a robotic subsystem for transporting the document through the system.

Abstract:
A method is provided that includes receiving and processing a sample signal scan. Processing the sample signal scan includes applying an inner-product operation on the sample signal scan and each of a plurality of eigenvectors to generate a plurality of corresponding coefficients, and subtracting the sample signal scan from a linear combination of the eigenvectors and corresponding coefficients to thereby produce a corrected sample signal scan. In this regard, the eigenvectors have been generated by decomposing a plurality of background reference signal scans according to a singular value decomposition technique. The signal scans include a plurality of electromagnetic signal measurements at a discrete set of frequencies, where each measurement has been taken by a spectrometer system passing an electromagnetic signal through a sample cell including just a base medium (for the background reference signal scans), or both a base medium and a sample medium (for the sample signal scan).

Abstract:
A method is provided for characterizing luminous celestial objects (e.g., stars) in celestial navigation of a missile system. The method includes segmenting, assigning, measuring, computing, ratioing, producing, scaling, and determining operations. Segmenting includes subdividing wavelength range into discrete contiguous bins. Assigning arranges each bin into a plurality of color bands. Establishing sets a transmissivity to each bin of each color band. Computing calculates broad-based fluxes for a reference value as a reference flux. Ratioing computes a ratio between the target flux to the library flux as a color scale for each band. Squaring determines the library flux for each band as a library flux squared. Producing sums a spectral scale over the color bands, a second multiplication of the color scale and the library flux squared as a first sum product, and sums over all the bands the library flux squared as a second sum product and dividing the sum products. Scaling factors each measured intensity of the measured intensities as a scaled intensity by multiplying each target intensity by the spectral scale for each bin. Determining sums a scaled broad-band flux for each band over the bins, a third multiplication of the transmissivity and the scaled intensity.
Abstract:
A light-emitting display system has interlocking tiles. In an implementation, each tile has a portion of a clamp that joins with another portion of the clamp on another tile. A tile is removed from the display by unlocking the clamp portions. The tile is removed without affecting the position of the other tiles in the display.
